Love conspiracy theories??

You gotta go see the movie "Bug"

It attempts to dispel them in a most interesting way.

Re: YOUR favourite conspiracy theory!!

I have now spent dozens of hours sifting through material from the theorists and the debunkers. To make it absolutely clear where i stand I must shout : I HAVE NOT FOUND A DEBUNKER I CAN'T LINK BACK TO BUSH/AFFILIATES. This alone causes me grave concern. Testimony presented from the scene at the time points to an incontrovertible FACT that these 3 buildings were wired for demolition.

I cannot stress enough how much this knowledge has affected my world view. Its not the extra 1000's of deaths that can be attributed to this clique. It's the fact that they measure popular apathy to be so great that they'd go ahead. This is the truly sad bit of it.

Re: YOUR favourite conspiracy theory!!

We in the states are willing to put up with a lot...

Forget 3,000 deaths on 9/11 or 3,500 soldiers in Iraq over 4 years...that's just a drop in the bucket....or the 600,000 Iraqis we've eliminated...nothing compared to what gladly do to ourselves.

1,300 deaths a month so we can drink our beer, wine and liquor.

2,800 of us die each month of lead poisoning...fired at high velocities from a cylinder.

We'll put up with 3,500 deaths a month in order to freely drive our automobiles.

25,000 of us die prematurely each month by killing ourselves with our forks.

And over 30,000 deaths a month for our freedom of extended smoke inhalation of burning tobacco leaves...

IT'S OUR RIGHT DAMMIT!!

And we'll continue to fight around the world till the rest of you have the same rights to kill yourselves as we do!

Even if we discover the "truth" about these conspiracy theories, what can we do about them anyway?

An important question. I've been asking it a lot. Why bother? Not that I'm sinking into apathy, but there is a feeling of helplessness. And not that I'm a nut for conspiracies either (okay, well I am a little bit of a nut--and not just for conspiracies either!), although it seems to me that some of these things being labeled "conspiracy theories" are actually situations/events/phenomena that do need to be investigated--and when they are investigated, they are labeled conspiracy theories, which serves nicely to discredit them and put them out there on the fringe with the wackos, quacks, science-fiction addled hacks, ridiculous loonies, and other isolated pockets of denigrated peoples.

Perhaps if we respected investigative journalism more, these things would be appreciated for what they are: issues to be investigated, and issues that are often scary, weird, even unbelievable. And hopefully they are unbelievable--that is, the unfounded and worrisome imgainings of overactive and marginialized minds. Yet if there is something to them, we should check and verify, investigate, look hard.

Which brings us back to the problem--if one of these conspiracy theories is true, what then? What can one person do? One person can do little. Maybe groups of concerned citizens could do more.

As far as individual action, it would be ridiculous to tackle one of these vast conspiracies head on. Best to sit it out on the margins, not worry about it, focus on being a productive person in whatever way suits you most. Spending vast amounts of energy and time fretting about chemtrails and what really happened on 9/11 isn't productive on an individual level. That's a job for dedicated groups.

Re: YOUR favourite conspiracy theory!!

Here's the latest conspiracy theory for all of us nuts:

Massive ULF ‘Blast’ Detected In US Bridge Collapse Catastrophe
Reports from Russia’s Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics located in Irkutsk are reporting today that their Siberian Solar Radio Telescope (SSRT) detected a ‘massive’ ultra low frequency (ULF) ‘blast’ emanating from Latitude: 45° 00' North Longitude: 93° 15' West at the ‘exact’ moment, and location, of a catastrophic collapse of a nearly 2,000 foot long bridge in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

To the horrific destruction of the Interstate 35W Bridge which spanned the Mississippi River we can read as reported by the Star Tribune News Service:

"The 1,907-foot bridge fell into the Mississippi River and onto roadways below. The span was packed with rush hour traffic, and dozens of vehicles fell with the bridge leaving scores of dazed commuters scrambling for their lives.

Nine people were confirmed dead as of 4 a.m. today. Sixty were taken to hospitals and 20 people were still missing this morning. Authorities said they expected the death toll to rise."

Russian Military reports state that the total collapse of such a massive bridge, and in the absence of evidence linking its destruction to terrorist activity, could only have been accomplished by an acoustic weapon, of which the United States Military is known to possess.
For those of us who can't get enough paranoia (thinking of you and me, Tao ), here is a link to the whole article:

Re: YOUR favourite conspiracy theory!!

Hi Pathless...I agree it all makes for a delicious conspiracy theory. But there are holes.

First, this Sorcha Faal is a totally unknown quantity, and even though the disclaimer at the bottom of the article seems genuine in trying to paint the USA as the bad guy here and Sorcha as a valiant opponent to all that is wrong, searches on the web by several people for any evidence of her existence have come up empty.

Second, while ulf and vlf acoustic weapons that can do these sorts of things have been around for some time, they first emerged out of Soviet Union research in the 70's and 80's. There was a crusade by a retired Army colonel by the name of Tom Bearden that preached on the dangers of just this sort of thing happening beginning in the 80's. Only then did the U.S. begin to look into this stuff. You can find lots of information about him and the things that he has worked on here:
The Tom Bearden Website

Third, if serious weapons research were going on it would't be underway at a smallish lutheran college, Augsburg, that is situated conveniently near the disaster site. Besides, the University of Minnesota, where many talented physicists do wide ranging research is just as near by and is not mentioned. No this smells to me like a ploy to demonize organized religion and/or its educational institutions. If it smells like it, it probably is.

I would suggest that this is probably an effort by Russia's intelligence services to demonize whatever they conveniently can related to the U.S and its institutions. As you know I'm not a particularly patriotic guy in all this stuff, but Putin being what and who he is, the former head of the KGB, I would not put any of this sort of skulduggery past him.

If Sorcha were the real deal, she'd have probably bought it quite some time ago because of her outspokeness. Russia is still a pretty dark place for investigative journalism. Remember the polonium in the tea caper ? At least they did that in another country.

Thanks for the feedback, flow. I was thinking it was pretty outlandish myself. Just thought I would post it here for what it is... another conspiracy theory.

Re: YOUR favourite conspiracy theory!!

I couldn't allow this excellent thread to remain dormant forever. This writer, Jeff Wells has turned out to be one of my favorite stops on the web. And it looks as though he's scoring some points. He may be somewhat paranoid, but he is a persistent and consistent writer, and I think quite brilliant.

His latest is one of my faves and is rich with conspiracy tidbits spanning the past forty five years or so. He's very fond of doing flashbacks to film content from the past when films really meant something in our culture. The links at the right hand side are also extensive and informative.

Re: YOUR favourite conspiracy theory!!

More on chemtrails:

a convincing documentary: Owning the Weather - The secret agenda of atmospheric manipulation.

referenced in the documentary, documents from the military and the house of so-called representatives:

Owning the Weather in 2025
Space Preservation Act of 2001

In searching these forums for other posts where chemtrails are mentioned, I also came across references to cloud-seeding. Just from a cursory glance at the wikipedia entry, cloud-seeding seems to be the injection of silver iodide and dry ice into existing clouds, which is different than the chemtrail phenomenon. Chemtrails are suspected to be an aerosal spray, probably containing barium and aluminum particles. In the video linked above, a researcher talks about how spiked levels of both barium and aluminum have been found in areas where chemtrails have been sprayed.

So what do you think? Have you seen chemtrails in your city, town, village? I've seen them, and they piss me off. Watch that video if you have 45 minutes to kill/spare.

I'l watch it tonight before I sleep. I live under the flightpath for a commercial airport so I rarely see and high flying aircraft, perhaps because there are so many coming and going I no longer look. Also living on the edge of the North Sea and thinking about why the would 'want' to spray chemtrails, ie to seed clouds, there would be no need here. I have yet to take a close look at these theories, I'l comment once i have.

Namaste all,

my current favorite is the theory that Communism in the USSR was actually created and implemented by the Jews that lived there to punish Europe for not letting them settle.

a reporter type named Muggeridge advocated this theory though i've only recently become aware of it.

metta,

Big surprise, Washington DC. You know how you wake up some mornings to a beautiful blue sky? Unbelievably clear, not a cloud in sight. Well not totally clear the horizon always has a line of pollution you can see, but it is better in the morning before all five million of us start our cars and head to school, work, shopping...

But you look up around 8:30 and see little streaks, jet trails, and then watch them over the next few hours there are more and more of them and they each grow from a streak to a wide path, by noon are overcast...

I should take some pictures for ya...
