    Pelagius

I only recently came across Pelagius on another forum. The mention of his name instantly put the few who responded into opposing camps. I read the Wiki and viewed this video He seems to be a very interesting character. Has anybody else got an opinion of him?

    Death is an illusion

So this is referring purely to ones physical composition. I am not sure how this is relevant to spiritual aspects. It is claimed, I believe that Buddha could recall past lives.

    Death is an illusion

In this context, sounds rather nihilistic. I am not sure that is how it was meant. Perhaps this refers to change rather than gone without trace.

    Death is an illusion

Two good points there. Maybe people more spiritually advanced than me have greater insight on this but I can only guess. I do not know how a case for the idea could be made. Probably it would depend on other beliefs that were accepted. Consider Spiritualism, reincarnation, N.D.E.s. There are...

    Death is an illusion

I do see your point Aup, but I think in a spirituality forum, the possibility of a non-material aspect is to be considered and that is where the differences truly come into play.

    Death is an illusion

Not sure that I follow this line of reasoning. If life is an illusion, is the end of the illusion i.e. death, necessarily an illusion too?

How would you share the Good News to the Self-Entrapped?

"How would you share the Good News to the Self-Entrapped?" Going by my own interest in religion and why I took this further at times, I can only suggest the following. Join or set up an organisation. Publish a variety of material, ranging from learned works to very basic leaflets. If you have...

How would you share the Good News to the Self-Entrapped?

"How would you share the Good News" I have to ask, why would you want to? Even the least bright of these people should realise that they do not have incredible powers of persuasion.

How would you share the Good News to the Self-Entrapped?

I would advise people not to be complacent, and to always accept the possibility that they may be wrong. I would also advise that we should always look at alternative points of view. Sadly in my experience, these are methods that people delivering "the good news" do not apply to themselves.

What is it like where you live?

I am not all sure. My step-father was from Stepney and Craz is from Hackney so it does seem to be an East London thing. The original bagel makers and vendors in East London would have been Jewish immigrants. Perhaps there were some misspelt signs to blame? Maybe this gives a clue...

What is it like where you live?

Thank you for mentioning this. My step-father introduced my family to "bigals" and it took me a long time to get out of the habit and call them by their proper name. I was beginning to think that I must have imagined it.

Honor thy Father and thy Mother

I used to feel very angry with my mother. She was weak and seemed to have trouble grasping reality. I thought my upbringing explained my own shortcomings. One day, I just realised that she had every reason to be like that. Her own upbringing must have been odd, my grandmother, although loving...

What is it like where you live?

Back in the 1990's I took a job in Hackney, which borders my borough to the north. One day, after work, I went to the station and was waiting for my train when a middle-aged woman sat nearby. She suddenly burst into tears. I went to help her, all that she said was that her employer had...

What is it like where you live?

Trust me, vast numbers crammed together, do not equal integration. My family arrived here in the 1870's and I have lived here all my life. At present, out of those 350k people, I am on first name terms with 4.

What is it like where you live?

High crime. Almost every pub has closed down, local industry has vanished. If you get to know anybody, they usually are gone in a few months. It feels like and resembles a transit camp.
