Can we know for certain anything about God and what he plans for us?

Which one has to look at very closely. The FF could just as easily have said 'endowed by God'. But they chose not to use that word, in favor of a much more generic term. That's significant in attempting to gauge their intentions. Remember, several of the FF were not christians. There are other...

Can we know for certain anything about God and what he plans for us?

Well as for the site, I believe the owner's disclaimer kinda says it all as to his ability to be fair minded. Disclaimer: The contents of this web-site is not intended to accuse individuals. There are many faithful believers in various religious denominations, including Roman Catholicism, who...

Can we know for certain anything about God and what he plans for us?

Actually there is a very good chance it could be put into school textbooks; the reason being the way text books are sold in this country. Most grade school and high school text books are printed and marketed at the national level. Trying to see that all students have the same information at...

Can we know for certain anything about God and what he plans for us?

Woosh! Starting to get worried for a moment or two there! lol. Though actually your saying there can be scientific explanations for some things found in the Bible is not out of line to my way of thinking. That's not really what Creationism stands for though. Supporters of Creationism state...

    Facebook.

I can understand that. I suppose I am a fairly atypical FB user as I don't post my life on there. I rarely post to my timeline, and when I do it is actually something silly about me. Mostly. I'll admit to have posted some social/political rants when I felt it was imperative but that is really...

Can we know for certain anything about God and what he plans for us?

Actually I have no problem with someone believing in Creationism. Live and let live is the motto I live by (to the best of my abilities). Such a person and I can even be friends as long as we each agree to disagree. In point of fact I have had friends who believed such and we were still friends...

Can we know for certain anything about God and what he plans for us?

Ah but this is an entirely different statement from your previous one. Here you are comparing different avenues for the creation of life. And, you'd better sit down for this one. I agree with you. Each seems equally plausible. The only difference is that in the future science may finally crack...

Yeah I agree with you on this one. A body heals much more easily than a mind.

I don't envy you this situation. Specifically your desire to share your beliefs that are radically different from strict Biblical interpretation. The issue as I see it is that people like your friends are fiercely opposed to any other interpretation, and you saying merely mentioning evolution to...

Can we know for certain anything about God and what he plans for us?

I think it is. The first is a simple biological breakdown process that repurposes the material that makes up our physical body. Nothing far fetched about that. The second is a magical being applying laws outside of physics that rule this reality to create life where there was none before. Even...

Can we know for certain anything about God and what he plans for us?

Well the 'simple' answer is that everybody decides based on their own beliefs, prejudices, preferences, etc. That is not a very useful answer though. It is the most honest answer though, and the one we live with every day in our societies. Which is why there is so much strife between ideologies...

Can we know for certain anything about God and what he plans for us?

I think Wil stated that those kids raised to believe in a warped or radical religion are the ones that could be described as child abuse. I would agree with that statement. And it wouldn't be religion alone. Kids raised in an extremely racist household could be described as abuse. Or a political...

I believe Tea is saying that his personal perception of who you are was altered because of your being into anime. Apparently his initial mind construct of Ahanu didn't compute any longer when this new piece of information was included. OR. I could be making all of this up!

Curious as to how many here have a Facebook account. And also how much time you spend on that site. I resisted and resisted for years because of a host of objections (one example: having 200,000 'friends' and not a one you could call at 3 a.m. to help in an emergency). But a couple of years ago...

Can we know for certain anything about God and what he plans for us?

I would think it is more the case that it is the prejudices of your priests and pastors that has warped the true meaning. Though the social/economic life in which you live certainly also has a powerful influence.

God Did Not Write the Bible

Well one thing hell is not. It isn't a place beneath our feet with roaring fires and molten rock with billions screaming in eternal agony. That's a complete, and manmade fabrication.

Wasn't meant as a simplification. A generalization. Not sure why you have a problem with the comparison. It is a (generic) look at what man is in the world from one standpoint and then from another - and that they each come to very different conclusions.

Not music they can hear. Their rage and hate blasts everything else out of existence.

Yep Obama has always taken the high road. The hate mongers who cannot stand him always take the low road. I'm not saying he was a great president by any means. He let the opposition steamroll right over him too many times. But he is hardly the worst president in history as his deranged...
