Is this a sign of things to come?

I've often heard that all publicity is good publicity. Fifty years ago a small religious group wanted to hold a presentation at Guildford university. Previously they had held presentations but hardly anybody ever came along, but before this event a Baptist Minister made a huge fuss in local...

There is no justice if atheism is true

OK A definition which fits for us all, atheists, theists, agnostics and any others. This thread addresses 'No justice if atheism is true' and given the above definition of 'morality' that proposal is busted. Imo Anybody of sound mind can have an opinion about right and wrong even if those...

    Waiting for the Freeze!

A friend did go to a Catholic school, I remember he said it was very tough. My school was a grant in aid public school, had log burners on every class and the dormitories were just cold. Yeah. 62 winter just went on and on.

    Waiting for the Freeze!

Whatever and however our weather is changing, the bottom line is all about dirt in our oceans, in our air and anywhere else. It makes such sense to get cleaner.....trouble is, making and then recycling all those batteries is going to be a dirty job. The power supply crisis has affected us all...

    Waiting for the Freeze!

I remember the winter of 62, spent in a freezing boarding school with no central heating. And I remember the drought and heat of 76 when I saw 'dust-devils' whirling across the fields for the first time. You can be sure that when the sea level begins to rise that we will be reminded that it...

There is no justice if atheism is true

Yeah. Making love to a loved partner or spouse........heaven. Comfort after extreme agony.... heaven. Playing with a loved pet....heaven. A glass of water after great thirst....heaven. That teacher, though. I don't know about that. The fat maths teacher (Manthorpe...long since deceased)...

There is no justice if atheism is true

That is the best answer you could have given. Exactly....'What is the meaning of 'moral righteousness'. I asked because I have absolutely no clue what 'moral means, exactly. I think that words like moral, immoral and righteous are adaptable to fit with most folks' mindsets and actions.

There is no justice if atheism is true

Ha ha! :) I attend Christian 'snack and chat' meetings quite often, I discover new info about hj at these all the time, last brilliant piece learned only a few days back. But I was enjoying tea and biscuit at one (a little while ago) when a lady in a group pointed at me and spoke out, 'What's...

There is no justice if atheism is true

I skipped through to the message where they ask for tithes, well, they mentioned tithes, something to do with continuing their work.

There is no justice if atheism is true

It's only useful in one single sentence, imo. Evil be who evil thinks That is writ large above Judges' seats in our Courts, shown in latin. Some of 'em need to read it more often, methinks.

There is no justice if atheism is true

Ah.... yes. Righteous decisions can jump from side to side, according to who is trying to make them. I need to bombard you with yet another question, what in your opinion is 'moral righteousness'? Maybe that word can fit mostly anybody's decisions?

There is no justice if atheism is true

Fair enough .. And I like Muhammad's proposal that we bring suffering upon ourselves through our deeds. That can apply to theists and non theists all.

There is no justice if atheism is true

Yeah, but that is a bit strange because there isn't a 'hell' for the Jews. Anyway, your point about people bringing suffering upon themselves through various kinds of self guilt, now that's what I would call 'common ground' because it can apply to mostly anybody but the psychotic, and I...

There is no justice if atheism is true

I guess that Muhammad taught judgement, a Muslim friend once told me that he wanted to succeed to an Islamic heaven where could laze in beautiful water gardens and be attended to by beautiful young ladies (dark eyed) for his needs, and be able to look over and down in to a hellish place where...

There is no justice if atheism is true

That wasn't very nice. This is why I need to repeat stuff. I say again, I take food and drink with Christians often, certainly each week, and a Catholic also sits at the same table.

There is no justice if atheism is true

You couldn't be more wrong. I take food and drink with Christians very often, at least weekly. Twisting 'Christians got it wrong' in to 'I hate Christians' is just that........ untrue.

There is no justice if atheism is true

I think that the Jehovah's Witnesses agree with that tenet, mostly. Salvation by actions. But many Christians believe in 'Salvation by faith alone'. But some of us think that this is all rubbish, Tony..... yet many non-theists do want a safer, fairer, kindlier world here and now. So we...

There is no justice if atheism is true

No True Scotsman! Any Christian who does bad things can't be a Christian. Good game. In my opinion much of Christianity does not practice what Jesus said. No. The thread title is 'There is no justice if atheism is true', I've needed to repeat this a few times. And that proposal is clearly...
