    Laghu-Yoga-Vasishta

Valmiki On my first reading all those years ago I was a Qualified Student in that I believed in the concepts of devotion to the living Guru, liberation and reincarnation etc. The reading of the book was an exceptional experience at the time. These days I probably would not be a qualified...

    Laghu-Yoga-Vasishta

@Nicholas Weeks Gosh! It's been 10 years since I posted in this thread and I still haven't finished my second reading. Some comments/reflections Much of the last decade, I have been in much discomfort (both physically and mentally) and these things have definitely hindered my core-love of...

    John's Gospel

As far as I know, being a JW(as in part of the organisation) means submission to the Governing body which determines all the doctrines etc. TheMadJW clearly doesn't submit to this body, so he does not represent the movement in any way, even though he says he has the same beliefs. Many JW's...

The Mystery of God’s Will Unfolding in this Matrix

@Modesty I used to go to their mosque in London where they regularly had interfaith meetings. Individuals would each make a presentation of their beliefs. These meetings really incresed goodwill amongst the larger community.

The Mystery of God’s Will Unfolding in this Matrix

I have spent much time with Bahai & Ahmadi communities. It was in a secular way , meaning I was not looking at their religious claims, but rather how they lived and interacted with their local communities in England. I have met with Ahmadis in Israel, which is the only country in the Middle...

The Mystery of God’s Will Unfolding in this Matrix

There have been loads of Messiah/Messenger claimants in the last 2 centuries. Here's the list of Islamic claimants(wiki), full list at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_messiah_claimants Islamic tradition has a prophecy of the Mahdi, who will come alongside the return of Isa (Jesus)...

The Mystery of God’s Will Unfolding in this Matrix

Yes, the Ahmadis believe that he(Mirza) is the second coming. They are not recognised by many(all?) Islamic sects and have faced much persecution(and still do).

The Mystery of God’s Will Unfolding in this Matrix

I read the book by their founder, Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, some decades ago. It postulates that Jesus survived the crucifixion, travelled to India where he lived his life and died naturally. Here is the wiki link https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jesus_in_India_(book) and I think there is a free...

The Mystery of God’s Will Unfolding in this Matrix

Have you heard of Ahmadia(an Islamic sect)? If not this may interest you "Ahmadiyya Islam considers Jesus (ʿĪsā) as a mortal man, entirely human, and a prophet of God born to the Virgin Mary (Maryam). Jesus is understood to have survived the crucifixion based on the account of the canonical...

The Mystery of God’s Will Unfolding in this Matrix

@Tony Bristow-Stagg After reading many of your posts and seeing your frustration(of yourself), I am thinking that all you need is to be living amongst some Bahais. You appear somewhat lonely in that you have no (Bahai) community where you live, so your stance appears somewhat hardened in...

    Your religious/spiritual journey

@Niblo About fifty years ago I worked for a Japanese manufacturing Company, and decided to learn iaidō (a form of swordsmanship). On one occasion, I made a complete mess of a kata. When asked – by my sensei – why this had happened, I replied: ‘Too much mind!’ Hmm similar/opposite happened to...

    Do serve God...or a 'Trinity'?

Why have someone here who is clearly not interested in interfaith?

The Mystery of God’s Will Unfolding in this Matrix

(I'm not sure if this post fits into this thread, but it is in response to your post.) When I had my big spiritual experience, I immediately became a celibate and after a year joined an ashram which I suppose is equivalent to a monastery in Christianity/Buddhism. It was a simple lifestyle for...

I am familiar with dal(reminds me of ashram days when we had it almost every day!). Spiced cooked lettuce sound interesting though. Easy to prepare?
