    Religious organizational change

In fairness, change as constant, means it is happening for many religions all over. The West has enjoyed an infusion of Eastern philosophy while now, as I know from experience, Christianity is enjoying growth in India. It's still a minority religion and prolly always will be here but in...

"Believing in science" - what does that mean?

well it was raw pressery cold coffee and sugarcane to be exact. wanted to try them out. my last meal before it had been 12:30 the previous day and it was 6:00 when i took it. mix that mush of caffeine and sugar with the anticonvulsants and antipsychotics I take and prolly a tug of war happens...

"Believing in science" - what does that mean?

Thanks @wil. My fault for drinking 2 cups of sweet milky coffee and a cup of sugarcane juice on an empty stomach. Crashed fast, crashed hard. Right as rain now and learned my lesson.

What is the actual evidence for the existence of Jesus?

True enough @wil . But too much of the same spoutings by all of us in this world, would kill the novelty that keeps our brains excited.

    Hello.

Hah! It is my favorite gospel @Tim Goodwin ! I feel the others while having a good message in some areas don't have quite the punch. Gospel of Thomas can be somewhat cryptic though, particularly unless one has already has had a glimpse of what Jesus speaks on. Have you?

Something I read earlier today that I don't know where to put

Ye gods, @Phyllis Sidhe_Uaine ! Why torture me so?! Here's me becoming aware of the culinary vices of the West but unable to leave the premises and also aware that Zomato can't deliver Western foods to my location ever since KFC closed and Pizza Hut refuses to deliver cos of distance....and you...

    Hello.

Hello Goodwin and welcome. I hope you find or found what you desire in this forum. I am an on/off member but I have seen its worth compared to other boards for religious and social connection.

What is the actual evidence for the existence of Jesus?

Hell @wil by that rationalization even Bible as Word of God is a misnomer. Its not the full words of God but the church accepted ones. There are many more gospels than the ones in the official Christian Bible. Jefferson cut stuff out but so did the early Church.

"Believing in science" - what does that mean?

Agree wholeheartedly. Once again the brain's beliefs divide and conquer. This is me and that isn't. Two brains on opposing sides of a wall. This is why I think Jesus' message of love was not just unique for his time but still, for the most part, is so today. As an experience itself...

Rupert Sheldrake: The Ten Dogmas of Science

Science, specifically materialist science, seems to believe that because the mediums of matter and its related measurable effects like force and wave can be detected by device and body, that they are the sole paths to truth. They are free to believe that of course but ignoring the entire...

What is the actual evidence for the existence of Jesus?

Yes. But it works as a focused version of the message of Jesus. Especially for folks like me who find the teachings on love as the key part of what Jesus brought to the world, rather than his magical abilities. Exactly. And the fact that a man who really disliked Jesus wrote he exhibited...

What is the actual evidence for the existence of Jesus?

There are records by Roman historians(Josephus, Celsus) of the influence he made and his death for treason at the time. Nazareth itself may not have records because global literacy is relatively new within human civilizations. The stuff about the miracles is probably made up but there are...

What is the actual evidence for the existence of Jesus?

What would serve as actual evidence for you that Jesus actually existed? What form in current times would serve that purpose? Non Christian scholars and even secular Biblical scholars tend to agree that a man named Jesus existed, was baptized by John the Baptist, gained a large following among...

"Believing in science" - what does that mean?

Perhaps an addendum to this is how quickly we jump on a few right answers proving the whole. Some believers in a country feel truly empowered by modern prophecy comes true but scientistics quickly dismiss it as coincidence. But one study coming true on some point that numerous other studies have...

On Blasphemy: A wrong, a right, or both, or neither?

In my mind, blasphemy laws are nothing more than "I don't like what you said about X so I'm going to punish you" thoughts becoming part of the codex. They are created by Mankind. Both Bible and Koran teach peaceful resolution of conflicts in belief, not forced. But both books can also in other...

Something I read earlier today that I don't know where to put

Ach but if ye have enough techken, ye can thwart them! I make sure everything on my Kindle has a copy on my pc. Requires space on the laptop but a book file is generally tiny. Even huge multi-series books wont be more than a couple MB max. So even if they kill it on the Kindle you've got it...
