    IS RELIGION actually a philosophy?

@servantuitions Yawhea? As to your remarks regarding Jews, Judaism and Jewish scripture, I’d appreciate cites to the materials you studied that lead you to the conclusions you arrived at in post #18.

    What the Hell?

That is the literal translation. The question becomes what does the term entail? That depends upon who you ask and at what point in time you ask the question.

    Havurato, not Habburato?

Is there a reason you posted your query in the Christianity subforum instead of either the Judaism subforum or the more general Abrahamic Religions? I can only assume that you weren't interested in a Jewish perspective. I didn't see your posts because I don't do the internet on Shabbat. I will...

    What the bible says

@Yahweh kid - I had been working on a response to your questions to me. My responses often take longer because my real life and its responsibilities are always my first priorities. What the bible says

@Yahweh kid - I would also put forth for your consideration that if you are numbering Judaism as among those religions that make you a slave to receive, however you want to define it, salvation, your understanding of Judaism is limited.

    What the bible says

@Yahweh kid - Part of the problem arises because different paths use the same or similar words, but they don’t mean the same things. A couple of examples - When you talk about the Bible you’re not talking, in a significant way, about the same thing I’m referring to when I use that term. You...

I would submit that what it is true, or maybe truthful is a better word, is not always factual.

    Religion as Self Fulfilling Prophecy

Actually, no. There are not a few exceptions. Just one example, what is the hebrew word for “women”? Here is another one. One of the most famous tractates in the Talmud is Avot, popularly known as Pirke Avot. Avot is the plural form of the noun “av” which means father. Avot means fathers.

Scholarly discussion about changes in biblical texts

@wil - I have no idea what you are referring to when you mention “the five gospels”. Could you desvribe a bit more fully? As for Lamsa, aren’t there really two questions? There is the question of Lama’s translation, but there is also a question as to the Peshitta itself.

Scholarly discussion about changes in biblical texts

@wil - The Message, at least in regard to Hebrew scriptures, is not a translation. It is a paraphrase.

Some concerning trends in our world regarding religious freedom

If a population is large enough even a small percentage can be a lot of people. Here in the USA our adult population is approx. 267 million. If 99.5% reject the, how shall I put, less than mainstream positions of a Joel Webbon, that still leaves 1.33 million people standing with him.
