Mmm .. so we can all "make it up" as we go along..
Those who judge by what G-d has revealed, judge by something other than their own devising.
..but it may be that some people dislike what He has revealed, so turn away.
That could well be true .. but there would be no need for G-d to have sent Jesus and Muhammad to
clarify His guidance, if ancient texts were representative .. that they hadn't been compromised
in some way.
I mean that if people think that they are not in need of Divine guidance, then they will
ignore it .. or perhaps even oppose it !
Like Pharaoh .. he opposed it .. he oppressed others, because he thought he knew better.
Changing circumstances? What changes are necessary to turn away from the laws of G-d?
Even in war, there should be moral decisions made .. but as more and more people turn
away from G-d, we see the consequences .. mass slaughter and madness in nations not
at war .. treachery while making 'deals'...
I do not understand how something that is changed constantly by your ancestors can
be called "guidance" ..
..but that's me .. I seek something more concrete. I think that that is the issue here.
i.e. we are unlikely to find something that we are not looking for
What do you mean by that .. that multiple people 'update' it constantly?
Why? On what authority?
What does this have to do with your reply "What guidance is required when our duty is clearly mentioned and we have been following it since ages?" .. which implies that it does not change.
I thought so .. but you said:
What guidance is required when our duty is clearly mentioned and we have been following it since ages?
(Sanatan Dharma - eternal religion).
..and according to wiki:
Sanatana-dharma, being transcendental, refers to universal and axiomatic laws that are beyond our...
OK .. and where did they get their commandments?
..or maybe you are claiming that you do not need any guidance .. you are satisified with
what you've got .. what these people tell you.
That is correct .. G-d has no needs.
It is mankind who have needs .. are in need of guidance .. and the first commandment
(or kalima in Islam) is very important, because that guidance is lost if we ascribe partners
to G-d.
The remembrance of G-d protects us from wandering off the path of...
Yes .. the concept of G-d can be understood by all.
i.e. Creator and Sustainer of the universe
Those who believe/acknowledge the existence of the One should seek knowledge
with sincerity .. and they will find .. even if they must travel to a far away land. :)
Exactly .. not to worship idols.
Idols can be in more than one form .. statues .. people .. isms..
That's something else .. you speak about the attributes of G-d .. different creeds hold different
opinions.
However, one needs to realiize that the whole point of the first commandment is about...
In the OT..
Exodus 20:3: You shall have no other gods before Me.
In the NT..
Matthew 22:37: Jesus replied: 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment.
..so if one person claims that G-d is 10 pieces .. and another claims that G-d is 3 pieces ..
and another claims that G-d is 1000 pieces, and another claims that G-d has no pieces, then they all believe in 'different gods' ?
..even though they all claim to believe in the Bible, and the God of...
Mankind is in need of family/community.
The life of a hermit is not ideal .. we are spiritually stronger in company of those with
a like mind .. of those that are righteous, so that we may avoid entanglement with evil.
