Korea is a modern country. This actress is pretty hot.

Ok So-ri sentenced to jail POPSEOUL!
Actress Ok So-ri was recently sentenced to two years in jail because she was caught cheating on her husband Park Chul with a French chef.

Well I guess its better than getting stoned to death by Muslim mobs..

If you intend to cheat on your husband don`t do it in Korea :)

Going to jail for having an affair? Should that really be a crime?

BTW, I've heard that in the U.S., adultery is, actually, illegal, but people often don't get convicted or even charged for it. It's probably because too many people do it!

With regards to the actress getting two years, well, consider the case of Christian Bale, actor in the recent Batman film, who had a violent incident with his mother and sister but wasn't charged, I think the politics may have a lot to do with it. Just like Christian Bale was let off the hook because "it was a misunderstanding" (with some support from his family as well), this actress is getting the opposite. I suspect her husband has something to do with it . . .

Maybe the husband was really angry and felt really humiliated (because she's a celebrity) and just . . . snapped!

If the husband had something to do with the sentencing, thats even worse.. He should have just asked for a divorce. And he or someone he knows cheats on their wifes all the time as a norm anyway.

Most husbands would feel humiliated, but I think religion and governments alike have no business having to do with other peoples sex lifes. If anything, those who feel that they have a right to do so should be executed, for promoting ideas in the lines of slavery.

It`d make more sense in Korea, if some tyrant wanted something from her and couldn`t get it, and got frustrated.

BTW, Korea has one of the fastest growing Christian communities in the world.

Maybe it's a way of making sure she isn't cheating.:)

But then again, the other guy could always pay a visit.

I'm not sure what you mean by religion and governments getting involved. Yes, I did say "politics" but that wasn't what I meant. What I meant by "politics" were influences that would cause deviation and bypassing of established law, or result in a person being released and not charged, as in the case of Christian Bale (well, correct me if I'm wrong, I just can't remember the details, but I remember that he was either not convicted or not even charged). I meant "extralegal" and "extrajudicial" activities. ie. things happening outside the legal system

Maybe it's got nothing to do with the affair.

Then again, maybe they were having a fight and she happened to say during the fight that she has better sexual experiences with another man.

The husband flies into a rage and has her charged and convicted.

I'm not standing up for the "actress" involved. but..
one, if you are going to have and affair, dont, clearly, seek councelling or get a divorce.
two. if you are aware of the rules of the country,(ie, that this is a known law,,, dont break the law) or if you do accept the consequences.
these are two big (IF'S) i know, but, is she the only one serving time for having an affair i wonder?

If she was the only women who cheated on their spouse in Korea, and if you include the guys, she would be the only one serving time for an affair (assumption that is most likely very true).
