Video: Peace, Propaganda & The Promised Land

Wow, interesting. I particularly appreciate the comparison of news footage from different places, and I feel closer to understanding my country's involvement in the Middle East. There clearly has been a strong government influence on mass news in the US for quite some time. The comments in those videos say that journalists here have to conform to speak with government officials and have abandoned their journalistic standards. I hope that is not entirely the case. I remember that in 1988 Dan Rather (famous news anchor) roasted, grilled, and charred the elder President Bush in an interview while he was still in office. He kept implying the president wasn't being honest about something called the Iran-Contra affair.

There is a Israeli government web page that is clearly dedicated to representing Palestinians in a negative light in order to justify current aggression against them. It's an Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs page. It mentions that between November 4 and December 16 of last year, "Hamas and affiliated Palestinian terrorist groups fired 190 rockets and 138 mortar shells into Israel."

It is very unclear why "affiliated Palestinian terrorist groups" would be included in the estimate when they were not parties to the truce. It makes no sense to lump them with Hamas as though their conduct reflects on Hamas. In fact, no rationale for this combined estimate is provided on the web page.

The web page also mentions the fatal June 5, 2008 attack that killed Amnon Rosenberg, 51 and wounded several others. That was two weeks before the truce went into effect and therefore has no relevance at all to an assessment of how Hamas performed while the Gaza truce was ongoing.

For some reason there is no mention of the fact that there were no Hamas-launched rockets for four months prior, as attested by Mark Regev, who is described as "spokesman for the Prime Minister of Israel and an advisor on foreign press and public affairs."

Based on their sad attempt to rearrange the facts, I would conclude that the Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs is a propaganda outfit that resorts to shabby misrepresentations that will only undercut the Israeli's credibility.

Excellent. Keep an open mind, an open heart, and keep looking.

Netti, you may find that this article (Gaza in the Crosshairs -- In These Times) articulates many of the thoughts that you have about the current Israeli administration's use of this newest aggression as a political tool.

It's a shame that much of the information in this video is being suppressed by the pro-zionist Western media and especially the extremely pro-zionist American media. People deserve to know the truth!
