HR 875 and S 425 are the pieces of legislation concerning this matter

We can NOT allow this to happen to our childrens food!

There will no longer be ORGANIC food... they will be required to spray pesticides and insecticides on the "organic" food... hence, making it no longer organic

pesticides and insecticides KILL OUR IMMUNE SYSTEMS, ALLOWING us to be sick more often, and results with us purchasing more and more over the counter "medicine" and prescription drugs.

Seems like a pretty ****ty piece of legislation to me as I like food that isn't basted or marinated in biocides, and if the bill actually passes then the fears of long ago when we said one day people will be growing vegetables like the pot growers....in hiding, but people though that was crazy and paranoid and would never happen.
If the bill passes then there will suddenly be many more new "criminals for them to throw into their privatized jails.

Yeah, I was alarmed by HR 875 when it first came up on my radar, too, but since then, I've discovered that a lot of the hysteria surrounding it may be just that: hysteria stemming from misinformation. I'm not saying I support the bill; I honestly don't have the time or energy these days to invest in researching it thoroughly.

The following link might provide some relief, though, to people who, like me, have been primed by the misbehavior of The Man to be rattled by hyperbole about Big Brother and the threat of the looming police state.

My first reaction is that "The Man" just doesn't have the resource to police everyone. The government is already broke as it is.

That said, if I ever couldn't buy organic food, I would be forced to grow my own. I'm allergic to pesticides, along with a good chunk of my mom's side of the family. I'm also allergic to most food additives like dyes and preservatives.

Most people may not be sensitive to such chemicals, but some of us are and they make us very ill. Without organic food, I'd have to become a small-time farmer myself.

Thanks for the "skinny" on the bill. It pays to be educated.

It cracks me up to read the label on fresh organic carrot juice...something to the tune of 'warning this has not been pasteurized and may contain harmful bacteria and be hazardoous to your health.

Indeed, Lois would agree with you vehemently, as do I.

I found out about it this morning and the numerous links I waded through all had the tone of worry, which is contagious.
I saw the same thing with the Codex Alimentarius which is another regulatory mechanism being proposed.
The thing about these bills is that they have huge potential for abuse and I have little trust left for gov't and massive corps.
Sure one can rationalize away all they do, just as one can get carried away by worry.
Not that there is much any single individual can do about such things as they are so massive, but it does pay to be aware and in touch with what the schemers are up to, as typically it is not good for the average person.
Thanks for the link pathless,
their board of directors look to be a smart bunch.

This is the one I like the most:
It does not apply to food that does not enter interstate commerce (food that is sold across state lines).
At least the Feds are staying in their own territory.

I didt know about this and all I can say is that I am not surprised. After what Ive been seeing on the news these past couple months ,. nothing would surprise me. Im so sad and so disillusioned. Thanks Shawn for pointing this out.
