what the **** is up with this?????

The pdf on the AMA site was revised on 8/4/09, and it loads just fine on this computer, which is a different one from which I originally posted the link.
I tried it twice. No workie. That's why I tracked it down on another site.

Did you notice how quickly everyone jumped on the AMA....
In case anyone has doubts about an ongoing effort, they can do a Google search on "AMA opposes Obama health care plan" and check publication dates for the web pages that come up. I think most if them are from June 15th or earlier than that. Would that have been before the release of the AMA's statement that reads "H.R. 3200 contains many elements that reflect AMA priorities for health system reform"? If so, did the AMA change its mind at some point? Was it changes in the legislation. Was it both?

I really find it quite rich when the left blames their own opposition to a Democratic sponsored bill on the right,
Who was that?

From my research, the AMA is very tentative about their support of HR 3200. It makes clear that there are elements of the House bill it does not expect to survive the legislative process. Indeed, the group appears to be counting on it.

On the public option in particular, the AMA writes, “We believe that, as the legislative process continues, alternatives and modifications to the public option will be considered and the final product will be considerably different than the provisions contained in the original version of H.R. 3200.”

Personally, I don't know anyone on the Left who is clapping over H.R. 3200. To me, this bill is not the kind of real reform that I would like to see. And yes, I believe the RW of the Republican party is spreading lies and fear. Amazing since this Bill is nowhere near "socialized medicine." I think that someone mentioned that no matter what President Obama supports, the strategy of the RW is to yell socialism loud and clear. I think it is working.

Netti..is this the document you are talking about? date 8-4-09

In a document distributed recently to its members and published on its website, the AMA asserts it “will continue to work with members of the House of Representatives to improve the bill.”

srsly im poEd right now

Now here is a candidate for the Theology sub-forum.

Don't worry CZ, we have this flamers e-mail and IP address which we are forwarding up to heaven to keep on file up there. No afterlife for this cyberdummy. :D:D:D

Me worry?

I love playing with these types.

Their lack of linguistic skills and overt hostility make them clumsy and easy targets. He's obviously extremely frustrated sexually and has very low self-esteem... *sniff*... jeeze, now I'm starting to feel sorry for the poor guy.

Maybe he just needs somebody to give him a hug... and the fact that he has to pay for hugs has got him in the state he's in.

It's just not right avi, it's just not right.

Surely there's a lonely, language-challenged, hostile woman who's perfect for him. She's out there right now... watching wrestling re-runs... drinking rum and Tang from an old Dixie cup... pining for her shrek-charming.

Don't give up your dream MSP! One day you'll find her! Until then, remember to keep taking your meds! And here... it's a National Geographic with a feature on New Guinea tribes... it'll keep you company till then.

*sniff* It's so touching.

Actually, he was a great example of someone who could have used the govenment sponsored health care, maybe a labotomy :).

If my little ploy with the e-mail and IP address didn't work, I would have started telling him about the different Jewish denominations, that would have bored him into leaving :D:D:D.

I go to work (first day of the week) and look what I miss.
The posts are deleted and all I see is the remnants in CZ and Avi's posts.
Oh well, looked like a small fish anyway.

WHAT?! MSP's posts were deleted?!

I feel for you shawn... insights like his only come around once in a life.

[wind whistling through the trees]

Maybe one day he'll come back.

*sigh*

The irony was, I think he was on your side, CZ, when it came to this health care stuff :).

Lol, I missed some interesting bits. I think that guy actually did try to buy a hug from me... He looked scary and knife wielding so I quoted him tripple the price...

It's not my fault he started crying tho... I didn't mean to smack im wit my sign...

Much... ;):D

Anywho... where were we?

Yes, I'm sure the AMA wouldn't position itself as an organization that is going to be dictated to.

My apologies to those who still can't access the updated pdf. I've attached a text version to this post for those who want to compare the July 20th version Netti-Netti posted to the August 4th version attached here, to see what changes were made. I'll share my ice cream bon-bons to make up for any trouble with the pdf.
