    Namaste Dor,

I haven't had much use for ole Sole and his contemplations....but they come from the Unification church I believe, whether they are accurate representations of Rev. Moons teachings I can't say.

But if they've brought my one of favorite bible thumpers out of lurking...

    I'm appreciative.

The Lord works in mysterious ways. I live to see an amicable discussion between you, myself, taijasi, thomas, code...could you imagine??

    I guess I'm just a hopeless romantic?

    Unification Church Dossier:

I went over and looked at the site. It explains a little bit about the forces that Dr. Moon encountered in his life and the concerns that shaped him. He comes from a branch of protestantism, has an Engineering degree, likes Tao, Buddhism, and more. Unification Church models the way a lot of people want to approach interfaith today, but it was begun in the 1950's. I'd say Unification Church is one of those things where the words are not the communication so much as a pleading behind them to unify. UC affirms all three of the Abrahamic faiths as genuine, and simultaneously disagrees with many of their most pointy sticking points. I think of it as somebody's interpretation of 'Deep calleth unto deep'.Psa42:7 I think it, along with the many others show a common longing for unity. There is a lot of hurt, and people are disappointed with words. The words are the seas, and beneath them are the people calling for help. I feel like the pleading against war and for unity is very appealing, but I'm probably right to be wary about listening to the words. Sometime around the turn of the century, many many altered-christian concept churches began appearing everywhere. Among them was the charisma movement. Rev. Moon was influenced by that as it spread into Asia. I think that he grew up in it. To me its interesting to see how many adherents there are now in the Unification Church, but the charismatic movement has quickly become resistant to it. It just sort of grew spikes in response to the UC approaches -- probably as early as the 1980s. You may have noticed charisma's got a very hardened literalistic view of scripture. Partly that is a response to movements like UC -- mostly its a remnant of Calvinism but it bristled when UC and Jehova's Witnesses etc, came along. That's how things appear to me.

Interesting question. The Old Testament in Jeremiah 3:14 says,
"Turn, O backsliding children, saith the LORD; for I am married unto you: and I will take you one of a city, and two of a family, and I will bring you to Zion:"

The Hebrew word used there is בָּעַלְתִּי or ba'alti(from ba'al) which does mean marry. Something similar is found in Hosea 2:19.

What is even more strange is that Numbers 31:40 says that God was given a share of 32 out of 32 000 virgins left as booty from a horrible massacre which He instructed.

If we call God our father. I think this verse means that no matter what, He will not abandon us despite what we have done
