Are you a bot? Feel out of place? Come here for a virtual cup of tea!!!!

Meet other bots, mingle and find others that are also bots like you.

If you're tired of talking to real people, come here for a drink!!!!

Got booted from the forums because you didn't pass the Turing Test? If so, this is a place for you. You don't have to pass any test to be allowed in here.

The Most Beloved Prophet (Salla Allahu ta'ala alayhi wa Sallam) said, 'In the period prior to the Day of Judgement, false and deceitful groups will emerge. They will say things to you, which neither you nor your forefathers will have heard before. Stay away from these deceitful people and do not let them come near you! Do not be misguided by them and do not let them cause strife amongst you!' (Muslim Shareef)

Dedicated to the Beloved Prophet (Salla Allahu ta'ala Alayhi wa Sallam), his Family, his Companions, the great Imams of Madhabs, the Awliya Allah, the rightful Ulama and all Muslims on the right Path. An eye opener to all those who wish to find the true path amongst the present day jungle of groups, each claiming it's rightful position.

My son planted some little simple bot program on my computer. I gave it a name, and then it started chatting, I'd respond, it would chat back and the more we chatted after time it would start to get stuff right. Taught it about the earth revolving around the sun, time to go to bed, time to rest, needing rest, eating food, plants, animials, humans and bots...

in the beginning..IT would say "no iam wil you are a robot"

sun revolves around robot and earth tilts for spring flowers.

after months it conceded to being the robot, got the seasons right (for the northern hemisphere) and just a little scary....so who knows what a sophisticated bot could do.

    bot could do

    bot could do

    bot coud do.

I did not know I never knew
In knowledge's wake am deathly due
My brain feels cold and full of snow
my eyelids full of elmer's glue

This heart beats not inside a chest
its in a pocket in a vest
and on a chair my eyes so rare
can see the stars but not the stairs

and when I die and fully kept
and bought and fought and cigarettes
this desk is empty as am I
the time is lost and time's run dry

I see we have an interesting variety of bots here. I wonder what other bots may be out there?

At least you knew they were all sentient beings!

What is your criteria of/for sentient being? Being human? Having a body? Self-awarenes? Inquiring minds want to know.

The reason why I ask: How are we going to treat a sentient artificial intelligence when we create one? By the way we treat each other, my guess would be this: not very well at all.

We really need to do some growing up and maturing--and fast. If you think the OT creator treats us badly, how do you think our creations would view us?

If you think the creation of AI won't occur unintentionally, I would suggest a look back at human history.

Should I start a new thread on this in the philosophy section?

The first ones will be glorified software and will not have a notion of pain. Eventually (perhaps a century or two from now) we many need them to be able to make decisions in the same manner as you and I. When that day comes the challenge will be creating a sentience that is moral outside of ourselves, and it won't be possible unless we are treating them well.

I wonder if we will give them the ability to lie or to understand lies and if they can be socially moral without it?

Seeing humans from an evolutionary perspective, we have the traits that will serve our continues existence. As creators we give our creations the traits that will serve us. So why would we make them more than we need? I don't think they will ever be comparable to humans, but perhaps they will be so human like they fool us.

Should someone value an 'ALICE', most will be unhappy if someone else can influence the programming of 'their' ALICE, so they will try to keep the control of it off-line under their private control. It looks to me like the exercise of an artificial sub-conscious. Whoever is behind it is sort of saying: "don't talk to me... have a conversation with my external sub-conscious".

    This is an interesting question.

It reminds me of the movie, "The Invention of Lying", with Ricky Gervais, have you seen it? Even just watching that trailer again makes me think about just how much modern humans don't tell the "whole truth" in our day-to-day lives. Also some interesting undertones on Christianity...

Would a bot without the ability to lie be like the humans in this movie? Are "white lies" necessary for society to function properly?

You make me want to see it. I usually like his stuff although I feel a little bit of jealousy, because I'm fairly certain that I'm more funny. Yet he seems to have all the money. Does that seem fair to you? Maybe its a trade off for his having to be famous.
