I know there are two different accounts of the creation story in Genesis. The Madai have tentatively been identified as the Medes, but what is striking is that on top of that the Yavan are also mentioned. Yavan was the Persian rendering of Ionian. What this seems to imply is that the Table of Nations which mentions both these peoples was written at a time after the Persians had come into contact with the Greeks and sometime during the Acheamenid period. So does this mean that all of Genesis was written during that period or just a portion of it? How is Genesis split up exactly?

The Pentateuch is divided up according to what's called the "Documentary Hypothesis." (J) the Yahwehist was written c950 BC. (E) the Elohimist was written in the c. 850 BC. (D) the Deuteronomist was written c. 630 BC. (P) the Priestly books were written c. 550 BC. Genesis 10 is divided up into P (vv. 1-7, 20, 22-23, 31-32) and J(vv. 8-19, 21, 24-30) So the Table of nations Genesis 10:1-7 corresponds to (P).
