That's a popular misconception, but Christianity is not based of Biblical Portrayal. Very little in the Bible is meant to be taken literally. Christianity as Nice Cup points out, is about your personal relationship with God. It's about your interpretation of the accounts presented in the scripture. God speaks to each and everyone of us each and everyday and is heard loud and clear for those who take the time to listen.

Well it hasn't spoken to me ever. I wanted to hear when I was a child and I never did!

God is not going to come around to your flat and ring the bell dear. He speaks to us in subtle ways. Through the chipping birds, through the rising sun, through the laughter of a child, through the flowers that bloom, through the warm feeling you get inside when a loved one draws near and a million and one other ways that few take the time to even notice.

I've always thought that the Christian faith as intended by Jesus was laid asunder by organized religion's portrayal of politics guised as goodness and mercy < in an historic concept, of course.

So is socialism. There always are people who'd abuse the system.

"I've always thought that the Christian faith as intended by Jesus was laid asunder by organized religion's portrayal of politics guised as goodness and mercy < in an historic concept, of course."

--> This is the natural course of things. It is only natural that organized religions become ossified, full of mistakes, and dogmatized as the centuries go by. That is why we will continue to need new religious leaders like Jesus, Buddha, etc., to be born every millennia and start new religions.

Yes, this is true of political systems too. Every political system and civilization eventually becomes full of 'dead wood' and is then replaced with a newer, younger, and more vibrant civilization. (The idea is that the newer civilization is better than the old one, and I think this is usually true.)

I like you because you're consistent. Let me see if I've got this straight. Bible bad. Me no like. Does that about size it up?

Yes, its like beating a dead horse to revive it to beat over & over again! ;)

Could there possibly be any other subjects to discuss rather than reiterating the same ole, same ole?

Is non-existent so bad? I hope for that when I die.
I'd say... 'Go for it'

It's not like you're going to be here to care anyway
