That's one of the reasons for exiles. When we start locking the Truth within ourselves, exiles spread us out so that the whole world see the light we have.

What a fascinating insight. I like that.

But is it not contradicted by, say, the spread of various empires through the ages? These have spread, and are spreading, by force of arms, rather than spiritual photon torpedoes.

No, no contradiction implied. As the empires spread throughout the ages and the world, the Jewish representation of at least a Minyan of ten must be among them to guarantee universal salvation of the kind that Jesus referred to as the salvation that comes from the Jews. (John 4:22)

OK. I can see the the consistency you put forward, and I accept the power inherent of a group - there are too many examples of it in all cultures for it to be unimportant.

The idea of forming a Jewish Minyan amongst Islamist State sounds a bit tricky, although it might follow if indeed there is a caliphate formed. A sort of Shin Yod, a group/Minyan version of Shin Beth, perhaps. I guess it was achieved in Spain, amongst similarly barbaric Catholists.

No, but also that Polytheism in spite of the culture it produced once, has lost its place in History as a developed culture. It is gone and the dead must be let go. The place now is for the reality of Monotheism championed by an "immortal" People represented by the Jew. Ask Mark Twain. BTW, have you read his Essay about the Jews?

Many groups and the religions they invented have adhered to the idea of a single creator. My personal belief is in a single, exclusive creator from which the universe and all within has (and is still being) evolved.

My personal preference for naming that creator is to speak of him/her/it as Tao. I choose this reference to the Creator specifically because the Taoists are so adamant that any man who thinks he understands the Tao fully or can speak of the Tao with abolute authority is in error. I choose Tao because of its non exclusivity.

For those of us who adhere to the idea of a Primal Cause, by definition there can be only one. Therefore, logic demands the admission that the Great Spirit of the native americans, the Tao, God of the bible, Allah of the Muslims .... ad infinitum.... are all refering to the same entity.

So.......... for those of us who are monotheists, logic demands the admission that we all believe in the same god. We all believe in the Creator.... there can be only one.

The sad thing is that, through the ages, groups of men (and/or women), for reasons known only to themselves, have devised copious texts purporting to claim The Creator for only their select group.

Your thinking is sound as long as you decide up front that there is but one Primal Cause, which leads itself to a single Creator. Monotheism is not the only form of religion on the planet though. There are polytheistic ones as well where creation and destruction is shared by a group of Gods. They do not fit so well into the Western mold.

Gordian Knot, I had indeed settled on the idea of a single Creator. As I have mentioned in a previous post, The Big Bang Theory in science references a single event from which the universe was born. My monotheistic idea is that there was an intelligence driving the event. I had not considered the possibility that there could have been a roundtable of Original Minds involved rather than a single mind..... food for thought, thanks

This whole western mold.... does it exist?

I still believe none of us knows....we may think we know...but none of us know.

Strict observation of the data, actual data, actual environment would lead us to no G!d... polytheism, paganism, monotheism...all need some bending to fit in our world.... or our world needs to bend to fit into theirs...

57 years...nobody has proved to me they know...

they have faith...

they have beliefs...

I've had folks tell me what the Grand Canyon was like that haven't been there...

I've had people tell me how to ride a unicycle that don't ride one.....

I've had religious folks tell me of heaven and hell...

I put them all in the same boat...

Is that you western mold?

My thang?? What works for me. I do things, I get results... Trial, error...trial success, repeat..

I've both listened to and spoke with the Dali Lama, listened to and spoke with prominent authors atheist and religious... The tops in the fields admit that they don't know. I'll bet if I sat with the Pope he'd say the same, he's got faith, he's got a belief, he's got what works for him...

(now I've run into a lot of folks that were positive of x, y or z...but ask for back up....let the circular reasoning commence!!)

Universal salvation is salvation from universal catastrophes of the size of the Flood. That's what I understand from God's promise to Noah that as long as the natural laws functioned properly He would never allow another catastrophe of that size to hit all Mankind again. That's in Genesis 8:21,22. What would the Lord provide as the pledge for His promise to Noah? The soon rise of Israel from the loins of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. How do I know this? Jeremiah. He must have read that text and made the connection with Israel by saying that as long as the natural laws functioned properly, Israel would remain as a People before the Lord forever. (Jer. 31:35-37) And last but not least, Jesus also must have read those texts from Genesis and Jeremiah and concluded that indeed salvation comes from the Jews. (John 4:22)

I agree with you; the Creator or Primal Cause is of the whole universe. I have chosen the name Primal Cause to cuckoo myself within the concept of Causality to divert atheist attacks.

But he did allow five great extinction events. Wee they before the flood or after? Our ancestors were involved in them, it affected them.

BBC Nature - Big Five mass extinction events

Perhaps you did not understand the thread. God's promise was given to Noah to take effect from the rising of Israel at the time of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Those "big five mass extinction events" in the link of BBC Nature took place before the rise of Israel.

Out of the Canaanite milieu and polytheism came the One True God of the Jews...sorry if fundies are verboten.

Had to slip that one in. YHWH Elohim was his name. He claimed to be absolutely the singular God of all to Abraham, and to his descendants.

Had to slip that one in too. Should I apologize again?
