Is this just acceptable in out society...
Are we numb yet?
Or do we consider making a change?
I think most want a change, but you might not want some of the changes proposed.
I do think a lot of people are numb to the number of mass shootings in the country. It might also be more than numbness: Americans as a whole seem to have a memory span of 48-72 hours.
I fear that "we" have the attention span of a goldfish, plus there's this idea that, if Person X throws enough money at the "problem", it'll go away (ditto keep all "undesirables" out of "our" country.)
Unfortunately, the majority of the shootings have been by people born and/or raised in the United States who just happen to be "Christians" (they "talk the talk", but don't "walk the walk".) Heck, President Obama was sick and tired of speaking after the shootings during his two terms in office, but he did his best to bring everyone together to bounce ideas off of each other on how to deal with the BS/MS/PhD that led to the tragedies.
Unfortunately there are/were the "Monday Morning Quarterbacks" who say, "if I had a gun and I was there, I would kill the SoB, and I'll be the hero!"
Am I making any sense? <(^x^)>
Yes that good guy with a gun that can hit a target 32 floors up...
Hell, that "good guy" can see a fooking muzzle flash 32 floors up and recognize that it is from his/her target's gun! The suspect was only found after he set off the smoke detectors in his room!
Like my dear departed dad used to say, he went fishing one day and caught an antique lantern. The lantern was still lit. If the MMQ provides a more reasonable story behind his/her "fancy shooting", dad would blow out the lantern!
License to shoot? Training? Registration? Or nah?
I think this discussion is nuanced and as unbiased enough for folks here to appreciate it.
I'll be in DC in the morning...Listening to their speeches and marching in support of them.
I'm participating in the march tomorrow morning here in Milwaukee (I'll do my best to stay out of trouble.)
Best of luck, and love to all!
What an amazing day.... I am hoping the millenials show up in droves at the polls.
The last thing she said before leaving the podium was "Get out and vote."
that was powerful....the silence was incredible...after hours of chants and talks and music....w/o asking for it....silence....when someone started a chant...they were hushed...
the vote is strong... I expect we might just see the highest 18-24 turnout for a midterm election ever!!
I have my own opinions on what the problem is, but all I hope for is that you come together and curb these shootings.
me too....there are these things...things that accelerate small projectiles at fast rates that are widely available and in hands of lunatics
An update on the Parkland massacre (an article about the shooter): https://start.att.net/news/read/cat...ows_massacre_suspect_punching_self_speakin-ap
I'm not a trained psychologist or psychiatrist, so I'm not qualified for anything here, but it almost looks like he wants to commit suicide, and is too scared to do so himself.
There is a very short bit in the video that is pixelated to hide what is probably a bit of nudity on the prisoner's part (just a "heads up".)
Another article revolving around two survivors of the Parkland massacre: https://start.att.net/news/read/cat...ngs_bond_through_march_for_our_lives_after-ap
I hope that they don't have "burnout", especially the sister since she's "celebrated" her Sweet Sixteen birthday just recently without her friend.
Another school shooting, the gunman shot himself in the head after killing two and wounding two others in Santa Clarita, California. Last that I heard, he's still in grave condition.
As I posted above, we have attention spans of goldfish. *facepalmheaddeskwallbuilding*
More kids in us died from guns than soldiers in war 2017...
Separate names with a comma.
