Hello..

Here's a link showing how small Israel is.. I was completely floored to see it.

http://www.masada2000.org/geography.html

Living in a relatively large country like the US I think we take for granted how much space we have to move around. But the boggling thing to me is how these courageous people can survive with so many enemies surrounding them. I think it speaks alot for Israel IMHO.

That article is very biased and goes a little bit too far. Yes it does show how little Israel is but it also says:
Islam's Koran, which commands Muslims to force the entire planet to submit to literal control by Islam,

Which is a negative interpretation held by a minority of Muslims, not a fact.
Yet Arab propagandists call Israel "expansionist" and the "aggressor" against all Arab peoples. For those unfamiliar with the Arab interpretation of "aggressor," it means one who dares fight back against Arab aggression!! So even though Israel may have fought only defensive wars, the mere fact that she resisted total destruction is viewed as an "act of aggression." That's a case of wacky logic but, unfortunately, Israel doesn't have the luxury of picking her enemies!

Which does nothing to speak sense but only makes Arabs look stupid.
If Arafat and his Jew-murdering, Nazi terrorist thugs ever take possession of Judea-Samaria ("West Bank") and Gaza and call it their State, how will these two SEPARATE land areas (West Bank + Gaza) be connected? Will there be some underground tunnel? Some overhead bridge? Or will the Arabs simply demand a land corridor connecting these areas... in the process, cut Israel in half! This is a prescription for Israel's suicide and the Arabs know it!

This is nonsense! I have never heard a claim for a bridge, land corridor or tunnel to connect the two territories.

Basically on the your website...

...doesn't stike as being at all peaceful or compassionate. It just looks to degenerate Arabs. Thats not very nice.

What do you have to say for yourself?
Just because Jews are getting a hard time for Sharons heavy handedness that doesn't justify proliferating incitement to racial hatred.
.....

Placed in the context of the Arab Isralie conflict I found the posted article quite mild. I don't think that it really was hateful or inciting racial hatred. Their is certainly enough real bad blood to go around in the world without getting upset about the writings of someone who obviously knows firmly which side of this conflict they are on. The concerns and fears of the Israeli people are real and IMHO very justified. I don't think they get nearly enough "air time" in the debate. From everything that I have read about the history of the conflict it also seems to me that it is true that the cause of the displaced Palistinians has only championed by the Arab states when it suits those states own agendas to do so. Sure the article was biasd and one sided. Everything that is written about this conflict is. It is easy to see that this article was written with the purpose of bolstering support for Israeli and why the hell not. I would much rather see the state of Israel and it friends and supporters try to gain sympathy through letters than force.

To answer the original question. Isn't Israel a tiny country? Hell yes.

I wasnt condoning the article I was posting it showing how small the country is in comparison with other countries. If I was posting it agreeing with the writer I would have said so or posted it on another part of the forum. eesh get off your high horses and quit being so quick to jump on "your a racist" wagon. This is not the first biased article posted on this forum and Im sure it wont be the last. Try reading the post before looking at the article.

Much has been written about Israels size from a military perspective. It is of very real concern for the Israelis that their country could be over run in a very short time by an invasion by a powerful mechanised force. I am sure Israeli politicians use the fear factor all the time to their own advantage. As I understand it Israel and Israelis really do feel ver fearful of their neihbouring Arab states even more so than they are fearful of the asperations of the displaced Palastinian psuedo state. I would hate to live in such a state of tension. I feel myself very fortunate to live far away from such concerns.

Temper, temper....

I understood the idea behind your post quite well, madam, and yes Isreal is a very small country, if that is what you wished to show, then you have shown it.

I don't recall calling you racist anywhere in my post. I said the article was hateful, and I didn't understand why a map was posted with such an article attached to it. Whether they are justified in their views or not I did not comment on and I will not comment on.

Please, please do not make personal offensives. It isn't necessary.

I agree 100%

The USA is indeed a very large country - hence why you manage to preserve a lot of your wilderness, I guess. :)

As for the Palestinian conflict - I;m happy to see both sides discussed, but it would be unfortunate indeed if the tag of "racist" was applied one way in either argument.

It is of very real concern for the Israelis that their country could be over run in a very short time by an invasion by a powerful mechanised force.[/quite]

Certainly that has never been the case so far - as 1967 demonstrated. A mechanised army is nothing without air power, and Israel has always been very dominant there.

well I think it is all nonsense because both sides come from the same root and are brothers....sad to see, hear and read that brothers can be so cruel to each other, and the Israeli's certainly have the upper hand. I was shocked to hear a spiritual man from Israel speak about Palestinian's in such a detrimental way. It reminded me of Northern Ireland and the prejudice, in this day and age it was beyond belief.

Of course the price of security for Israel is constant vigilance. Is it true that some of Israels neihbouring Arab states have never formaly recognised the existence of the state of Israel?

Indeed, which is one of the contributing reasons for the tensions. The establishment of the Nation State of Israel in 1947 was a bit of a cock-up.
