    No, from Germany.

Funny thing with the political denominations: over here, the party of the "liberals" are constituted by the dethroned remains of Prussian nobility, and some hotel managers. It does not play a big role, even got excluded from parliament for being too irrelevant a few years ago.

Our conservatives and national conservatives would be your liberals.

Our communist party is verboten, but we do have a Marxist-Leninist party. We have a genuine Nazi party, and a ritualized discussion whether they ought to be shut down.

There are two social democrat parties, one is centrist, the other one conservative. The centrist one used to have an anarchist platform.

One party is run by a satirical journalist. They have two seats in the European parliament. Good stuff...

See, now I've thought for a long time we needed a third party. But the machine has gotten too far along to switch tracks...a third party ends up stealing votes from one of the other parties. Ross Perot was the last real third party bid, and I voted for him...and we ended up with Clinton because Perot diluted the Republican vote. The way our parties are structured a third party isn't an effective option. Could be some way to implement, I gave up trying to figure it out. The last successful third party was the Republicans, which Abraham Lincoln was the first Republican President, after which the Whig party died and the Civil War started...effectively at the same time.

I understand Israel also has a series of smaller parties, and what impresses me is that it forces them to form coalitions, they have no choice but to find ways to get along in order to form a ruling block. To my way of thinking, smaller political voices get a chance to sit at the table and have their voices heard. Don't want to play along? OK, sit it out until next time. That makes sense to me.

But our system has ballooned into some "all or nothing" monster, and it frankly is getting out of hand.

It can get out of hand, though, if one of the tiny parties has the rest of the coalition by the proverbial balls, because the ruling block majority thing depends on their votes.

That is a problem, I agree.

The US President's Twitter barbs don't phase us much down here, we make derogatory comments about most everything. We often refer to libs as bed-wetters for instance. Always making the mess, but never taking responsibility for it and criticizing others for their attempts to clean it up. Media ads fuel to the fire by reporting how a child slept in wet pj's while parents were safe and dry in next room. Parents attempt to quell media driven outrage by explaining the situation, only to be met with a new headline: Cruel parents openly label child bed-wetter! Next thing you know one side's pointing the finger at the other and nobody's listening anymore. Meanwhile, newspaper sales sore and the morning brings yet another soiled sheet to be laundered. ...and so it goes

Basically referring to the Democratic Socialist. Jeanine Pirro has a book out about it "Radicals, Resistance and Revenge the Left's plot to remake America".

Here is an article by Bob Campbell giving his view of this :

Yep, Khrushchev warned "he" would take over America from within. Damned if he wasn't right.

Yeah, we used to too. You shake it off or go pout.

Those days are long gone now, with Political Correctness and hypersensitivity. Hell, I don't even know which bathroom I'm supposed to use, so I just water the bushes out back.

Don't tell anybody or they'll sic the Environmental Protection Agency on me.

I'm on the side that believes in such nutty ideas as universal healthcare should be a right as much as universal education is and that allowing poverty is a moral disgrace. Whoever gets that done would have my support.:)

Juan, in democracies all "taking over" is temporary. Temporarily, we have been taken over by the "Trump contingent." I would add that expecting someone to refer to others in respectful ways and with kindness is not about being PC.

I agree. Perhaps it is time for term limits in the House and Senate.

Since the media levelled the opening salvos the day after he was elected, and the libs were only too happy to pile on (or dare I suggest may have even been behind it?), at what point are they going to back off? I figure right around the 12th of Never. They have backed him into a corner, and now they are crying because he is fighting back. What gives? Where is the kindness and respect from the left? It hasn't been there, at all, from day one. He didn't start this. So he isn't the one you need to lecture about respect.

Term limits on House and Senate - I believe that would go a long, long way to getting rid of a huge bulk of the corruption that I think everyone is sick of.

Got that right. I lived there for almost 3 years. Seemed like the place was always in a perpetual state of the tale wagging the dog. Decided to leave after my son was sent home on his 1st day of 3rd grade for displaying a hate symbol. Seems his teacher mistook the Union Jack on his Aussie flag t-shirt for a confederate battle flag. -o_O

Fortunately, I've never been poor. But 1 year ago had to file for bankruptcy due to medical bills despite having private insurance through my employer due to deductibles and high co-pays. Have now, since retiring, been on Medicare with a supplemental insurance which enables me to obtain medical care without fear of going broke again. The US private healthcare/insurance system does not work well for a lot of people and needs major overhaul.

Yep, but you know they won't limit themselves. It would have to be done from outside, grass roots.
