It always struck me as highly likely to annoy the Christian God. "You think it is more profitable to your soul for you to believe in me than not? You must be confusing me with Mammon!"

I had to look it up to verify it was what I thought it was.

In the past I always looked at it as a joke....if that were the fallback argument ...to me it is proof you have no facts to support your argument.

I find myself still in the same boat...and since.this is an interfaith site....

After the fact, I sincerely hope I didn't come across as making light of your situation.

And I would agree, if the only argument ever offered is Pascal's wager, that would be a rather thin line of defense. But I have watched people dig trenches to defend even thinner lines over the years, so it comes as no surprise.
