One seeks to rise by bringing the other down.

The other seeks to raise the former despite themselves.

"named after Jannah (the Gardens)"

'The Gardens' are situated between black and white.

Objective: Put food on table.
White decrees nothing but peel be removed from a pumpkin.
Black decrees it irrelevant since we're all going to die anyway.
The Tan which is neither black nor white knows that peeling
pumpkins removes more than peel and the imperfection is OK.

White decrees that we must abide the law
Black decrees it irrelevant since we're all going to die anyway.
And Tan is comfortable with imperfection.

So, do you have an interest in the magical aspects of the Jinn?

Are you familiar with the book called the Picatrix, or Ghayat al-Hakim in the original Arabic?

I see it like an afterthought here and there but Magic is too broad a subject for a leaf such as myself who turns when the wind blows.

Are you familiar with the book called the Picatrix, or Ghayat al-Hakim in the original Arabic?

Not until you mentioned it. I looked it up and figured it pretentious:

"Thou who bringest prosperity or ruin, and makest men to be happy or unhappy! I conjure thee, O Supreme Father, by Thy great benevolence and Thy generous bounty, to do for me what I ask" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Picatrix#Content_and_sources

There is a whole literature of such magic(k)al ritual manuals which emerged in the late middle ages and early Renaissance. Since the practitioner is dealing with powerful spirits, the tone was chosen to evoke the authority to do so.

So what raised your intetest in the Jinn?

Where the magic of metaphors can make a difference I believe the 'Jinn' to be a label for our own predicament. What then are higher forms of disembodied intelligences? Perhaps 'spirits' is a generic classification covering all sorts of emanations. There, I've compared you to an Angelic being, I've wanted to do that since day 1.

I think in Islam the Jinn are a distinct group of beings, created from a different substance than humans.

Anyway, what do you mean by "our own predicament"?

Yeah, I think Jinn can be viewed as spirits having a human experience, with the different methods of coping described in the topic.

I only know a very little about the jinn, so I could be way off, but I wonder if what other cultures refer to as fairy folk or others yet refer to as poltergeists are the same or similar beings to jinn.
