Aren't woke spokespeople ashamed of this? Even if Peterson WAS the right-wing spokesman they dishonestly say he is, but which he absolutely is not. Why should the world be restricted to hearing only woke voices? Why don't we ever hear them condemn it?

    https://www.vice.com/en/article/g5b...ront-publisher-about-new-jordan-peterson-book

" ... During a tense town hall, staff cried and expressed dismay with the publishing giant's decision to publish 'Beyond Order: 12 More Rules for Life.'

Several Penguin Random House Canada employees confronted management about the company’s decision to publish a new book by controversial Canadian psychologist Jordan Peterson at an emotional town hall Monday, and dozens more have filed anonymous complaints, according to four workers who spoke to VICE World News ...

Four Penguin Random House Canada employees, who did not want to be named due to concerns over their employment, said the company held a town hall about the book Monday, during which executives defended the decision to publish Peterson while employees cited their concerns about platforming someone who is popular in far-right circles.

"He is an icon of hate speech and transphobia and the fact that he’s an icon of white supremacy, regardless of the content of his book, *

I’m not proud to work for a company that publishes him,” a junior employee who is a member of the LGBTQ community and who attended the town hall told VICE World News....

... he’s the one who’s responsible for radicalizing and causing this surge of alt-right groups, especially on university campuses.” *

    * Blind lies
    It's disgraceful. Imo

In fact if this is happening, it's an equal and opposite reaction to the woke cancel culture. On campuses, as in society at large, the woke extreme left has only itself to blame for the alt-right over reaction, imo

The Strange Fate of Jordan Peterson
    https://bookandfilmglobe.com/creators/the-strange-fate-of-jordan-peterson/

An honest article about Jordan Peterson. I will try to summarize it at a later stage, because I realise most people don't actually read these things.

But in the meantime it is fun to skip straight to the comments at the bottom, to get an idea of the poisonous bile and ignorance that anyone like JP has to face who dare upset the cancel culture.

I couldn't agree with you more.
Oh, and love me some Jordan Peterson, brilliant guy! Don't agree with ALL of his opinions, but I agree with a number, more importantly I respect his nuanced, freethinking, contrarian intellect, and his fight against totalitarianism and for individual liberty and anyone who ticks off and triggers the SJW progressivist far left...and the far right too is someone who gains my immediate admiration.

I see a gathering of radical centrists here! Fundies of the Middle Pillar? Extreme Centre-Wingers?

Just for the sake of being a little contrarian myself: What would the opposite of a SJW be? A fighter for social unjustice? A pacifist for social justice? An Antisocial Justice Warrior? A Soldier of Just Capital? (just pulling your legs, please carry on :) )

Wow! What he (@Cino) says is intelligent and true. But sorry we don't like it because .... well ... because it's rather awkward you see ... so therefore unfortunately we're probably going to have to no-platform him here from now on. Lets have a show of hands

I call myself libertarian centrist, but I'm not neccesarily radical centrist, I lean right conservatarian on many issues/contexts but classical liberal on others, a perhaps slightly libertarian left one one or two,
Centrist, but I'm more radically libertarian(not the party, the first principles...the overarching philosophy) than radically centrist.

The opposite of an SJW would be individualist cultural libertarians, and those who actually have individual empathy(focused on not collectives...though collectives have their place...but collectives arw comprised of individuals...those individuals rights and liberties and dignity trump any and all *collectives* demands , when the collective pretends arrogantly to speak for ALL individuals within the collective...then that collective becomes a hive mind trojan horse with repressive if not authoritarian and Orwellian totalitarian methods and agendas).
The problem with the *progressivist* SJWs is that they tend to be authoritarian regressive ...not genuinely *progressive* and thoroughly Orwellian, and also that the bulk of them(not all of them but most) shallow narssicists virtue signaling for Pat's on the back attention for their egos(and most, not all....but most...of their leaders tend to be sociopaths)...they use buzzwords like *social justice* and *tolerance and diversity(they only care about superficial surface diversity...and they dont REALLY truly care about that either, but hate intellectual diversity of thought within collectives* and *compassion* and *anti-racism/sexism/bigotry*(by which they really just mean anti-white and anti-male) and anti-fascism*(while defending and pushing socialism and/or communism- the opposite extreme...two words describing the exact same thing...totalitarianism)* and *fill in the gap newspeak word aphobia* ,etc, as mere buzzwords and as a trojan horse for an absolute power grab over the people and institutions and govt. Most of these terms they use are just inversions of what they REALLY are in nature/character...methods and ultimate end goals/agenda. Very machiavellian...in the negative sense.

While some of them really do have good hearta and sincere intentions...most of these are lacking in their understanding of the movements and the leaders of them, and don't understand that you can support social justice values without joining the cult/regime.
But most especially public figure ones and the higher up leaders are narssicists and/or sociopaths and overt hypocritical liars(and while many of the middle tier ones may not realize that their leaders arw lying to them or that their ideologies are based in lies...some do and are conscious liars, but the majority of their higher up leaders and major public figures.,,arw liars and no darned well that they are consciously lying to their useful idiot subjects and to the public and to institutions and govts).

The best way for sociopaths and narcissists to deceive, manipulate, and control is through masking themselves as *social justice warriors* two faces virtue signallers.
    At least in current times.

Most of them only bribe, bully, and lobby for and demand legalities that quickly become Orwellian and oppressive and bully the public with totalitarian speech and thought cides and the enforcement thereof. Most do very little in the practical world to actually show empathy and compassion and actually help the less fortunate or the alienated in any practical way. Most of the people who actually do the practical work of spending more time reaching out in real compassion to and running not for profit charities that actually feed, clothe, house the less fortunate are those oh so evil and hateful bigot literal nazi conservatives/right wingers/religious folk(and nonreligious folk on the right, including libertarians and classical liberals).
Of course this is NOT ALWAYS the case, there is bad/insincere and good/sincere on both sides, individual are individuals..,nuanced, complicated. But I'm speaking of *in general* or *on average*.

The progressives or SJWs ARE NOT what they appear on the surface to be or what they claim/pretend to be(just like say the powermad and perverted and hypocritical corrupt religious institutions ..not all of course but many in history...especially the likes of the Vatican for example or the Caliphate for example or certain religio-political secret societies as an another example, were or are not what they pretend and appear to be but the opposite thereof).
They are the very definition of the INGSOC party from Orwells *1984*. Snakes in the grass, wolves in sheep's clothing.

... "but?" What are they focused on? (You got sidetracked into saying all the things they are not focused on.)

What is a cultural libertarian? I have a mental picture of someone who views culture as a resource to be exploited for profit, or a commodity that can be owned as private property and traded for other commodities on a marketplace.

BTW, this forum software supports text styles, but it doesn't understand "Markdown" syntax, so the asterisks won't work the way you use them. If you want to emphasize a word, mark it and click the respective button in the tool bar above the input box, or simply enclose it in [ i]...[ /i] pairs (without the space after the opening bracket).

Well yes. I think a problem is to confuse wokeism with liberalism. SJW Wokeism -- or at least the Cancel Culture part -- is not necessarily a liberal movement at all; it is a liberation movement with all that implies, and using the word warrior.

Cultural libertarians are anyone on the political spectrum whom support absolutely the fundamental God/nature given rights and fundamental liberties for EVERYONE....every individual period- freewill, freedom of thought/concience/belief/opinion- speech/expression- association/affiliation- assembly and peaceful protest/dissent, opposing any side engaging in extreme authoritarianism(and totalitarian and Orwellian trickery/control).
You have a strawman about libertarianism in your head that has nothing to do with actual libertarianism(in fact the opposite if it....authoritarianism...whether right wing fascism/corporatism...monopoly/crony capitalism or leftist Marxism).

That, is, in a nutshell what cultural libertarianism is.
There's a bit more to it...like that it is heavily based in the first principles/values of the enlightenment. But what I gave you is the meat and potatoes of it.

Without intending to contend the principles, I would rather point to the idea of 'fundamental God/nature given rights' etc., as these are not given.

There are philosophical and religious expressions, such as the Golden Rule, but these are social and societal constructs, they emerge as guidelines and constraints within given societies, they are not laws of physics.

The Decalogue might be said to be 'God-given' in terms of the First and Second Commandments, but the others were common to cultures in the region at the time, and deemed necessary for the good and the cohesion of society as a whole.

And here's the rub: To use a word I usually reject – progress – is necessary to indicate that collectively humanity is greater than the sum of its individual parts, even though, on occasion, individuals might shine out like supernovae among their peers, and indeed continue to shine down through the centuries.

But without getting into trite debate, what about the 'freedom' to take what I want because I want it? To do what I want because I want to?

Again, I suppose the Libertarian ideal is a utopia alongside its contrary, the ideal socialist state. Human nature being what it is, neither state is attainable.

But the dialogue between the two must go on ...

Which is another way of saying, "The current state of affairs is God-given", isn't it?

Well, yes. Your garden variety corporatist free market libertarian tends to feel very strongly about "totalitarian" regulation of their enterprises.
