Wishing a happy and, for those who observe, a kosher Pesach! This year, like last, our child, who is reconnecting to her Jewish ancestry, will be guiding us through the seder. Finding kosher for Pesach vegan recipes was again an interesting exercise. I can get stubborn when it gets to animal products. I'm looking forward to it, as it was a lot of fun last time!
Thank you. I'm having an interesting "conversation" with a neighbour who is giving me an earful about having sunflower oil that isn't "kosher for Passover" (the rabbis are letting it slide this year because the majority of sunflowers used for oil are grown in Russia and Ukraine, so there's a shortage.) If your child is Sefardic, y'all can eat legumes for protein and rice to complete the proteins, while eating vegan. : ) Phyllis Sidhe_Uaine
I didn't know that Sephardic Pesach tradition was more accomodating to vegans. Sorry for the confusion. Vegetable oils are hard to get here, too, due to current events in Ukraine. I wasn't aware of the discussion around sunflower oil, either. We use olive oil. But that's not what I meant with my comment.
@Cino - I am away right now and may not have an opportunity to adequately respond until my return home, but please note that I plan to say somethings that you might find are at variance to what @Phyllis Sidhe_Uaine wrote.
I know I still owe you a response, well overdue, but I’ve been juggling several friend, family, and colleague crises - all non-covid - which have left me little time for more than quick, short responses to posts. I will get to it.
