Kindest Regards, Bandit and InLove!

Regarding not voting, yes, that is a valid way of participating if it is done correctly. Like going to the poll and casting a blank ballot. Yes, that seems somewhat contradictory, but at least it is participation.

Freedom of speech, to criticize those in office, may be the right of citizens. But as with anything, do you listen to those who critique anything who are not involved? Do you ask a grocer how to repair a plumbing problem? The grocer has the free right of speech to voice his opinion, but unless he has any experience repairing plumbing I would take his advice with a grain of salt... Same applies to critiquing the government, if you do not put your two cents in to remedy what you see as wrong, you can voice your opinion, but it means little to those of us who do what we can to actually make things work. Make sense?
no i do not see it that way Juan & it sounds irrational to me, like preaching politics to the choir:)

Yes. I listen to what everyone has to say even when i can see the marbles falling out there ears & the lies spitting through there lips.

you make it sound like someone who chooses there right not to vote does not know what is going on with the plumber/grocer.

when i vote, i do not put myself on a pedastol & create us & them & 'them' do not have a voice or valid opinion. Make sense?

i have politicians up my butt who use my property to campaign with there signs in the yard & i do not like more than half of them because they are big fat liars-therefore i do not vote for them, (any party) but i do give them permission to use the yard during election weeks. Then they have the nerve to sneak back later & take down the signs of there opponents & that does not set well with me, especially when it is a sign for someone i am voting for.

I rarely criticize politicians but the way you sound with this, makes it sound as if everyone who voted for Nixon/McGovern had some special 'degree' in voting, thus making them the only ones who have a say in it. So that would make all the voters opinions for Nixon worthless opinions?

Personally, I do not care who votes or who does not vote. It is none of my business why people do & don't & I am not going to try & force someone to vote or not to vote. See?

Well I would have expected better. I care about other people and i call that humanity. If something bad happends to someone and i can do something about it, i try and make it better. Obviously if someone gets eaten by a tiger in Indonesia there is nothing i can do so i won't lose sleep over it.

But. If i find out that my consumtion of Nike clothing is supporting a giant corporation that exploits young children and keeps countrys poor. I will stop buying Nike clothing. Maybe not so rapidly and enthusiastically as some because i myself haven't been exploited by "Nike" but i still will hold it in my mind as a priority that next time I want to by some baggy trousers i won't get Nike tracksuits but maybe look for a local or smaller more honest buisness that is less likely to be munipulating the weak.

This I think will make the world a better place. If we start caring about the consequence of OUR actions. (it is easy to critisize others but harder to practise what you preach) Then...we can start to look to realistic solutions to global warming, trade justice, and making poverty history.

N.B Great Apology for major deviation...the mind just rolls off certian points.

Peace

that is exactly right. we vote out the ones who exploit through nike & vote in the ones who exploit through the textile industry. that is still none of my business for who votes for who & why or why not & insist on someone voting for every person running. maybe neither is in there best interest. so boycott.
peace to you also Kaspar:)
