Oh yeah where does it say anything about a cheeseburger?

And you might wanna go back to that NT and double check the no homosexuality bit.
Could start with 1 Corinthians 6:9. or maybe 1 Timothy 1:9-10

Jesus came to fulfill the law not to abolish it.. but gentiles are not under Mosaic law which is different from the 10 commandments. I dont expect people to know that unless they are bible scholars. So dont think Im being condescending.

Hi Scarlet, good to see you around. :)

What about Matthew 5:17 - "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have come not to abolish them but to fulfill them." That sounds to me like a case could be made that Christians are still under the Levitical laws.
What that quote means to me is that Jesus came to remind us of what the law is all about.

Hi lunamoth, thanks! And thanks for your answer, too - it makes sense to me.

I have double checked it; check out HOMOSEXUALITY IN THE NEW TESTAMENT: CONSERVATIVE AND LIBERAL VIEWS
and
Anti-homosexual 'clobber passages:' 1 Timothy 1:9-10
(just ignore the ads, please; a downside to what I otherwise consider a very good site.)
I'll even throw in
Homosexuality and Romans 1:26-27 - all viewpoints
and
HOMOSEXUALITY IN THE NEW TESTAMENT: CONSERVATIVE AND LIBERAL VIEWS
for good measure.

I particularly like:
"The NIV contains the phrase: "homosexual offenders." Suppose for the moment that Paul had written "heterosexual offenders" or "heterosexual sexual offenders." We would not interpret this today as a general condemnation of heterosexuality; only of those heterosexuals who commit sexual offences. Perhaps the appropriate interpretation of this verse is that it does not condemn homosexuals. Rather it condemns homosexuals who engage in sexual offences."

Take a look at Matthew 8:5-13. Jesus didn't condemn homosexuals; how can anyone calling themselves His follower do the same?

it wasnt condemnation of homosexuals.. it was the sin of the act.. and it wasnt even the sin of the act it was the fact they wont quit the life of sin and you cant live willfully in a sinful life and be on the path that leads to heaven. There is no self control in that lifestyle and there is little repentance.

But Jesus didn't say anything about the centurion's sin - on the contrary, He praised the man's faith and healed his servant. He didn't even say "Go, and sin no more," as He so often did.

I like to think that perhaps Jesus is talking about homosexuals in verse 11.

And Dor, I confess, there's nothing per se about a cheeseburger - I was referring to Exodus 23:19 and Deuteronomy 14:21, where it says not to cook a kid in its mother's milk. AFAIK these verses are used in kosher dietary laws to say that meat and dairy products must not come into contact with each other. If dauer or Bananabrain sees this thread they would perhaps graciously straighten me out.
