(CBS/AP) The Rev. Jerry Falwell was stricken at his campus office and died Tuesday after a career in which the evangelist used the power of television to transform the religious right into a mighty force in American politics. He was 73.

The founder of the Moral Majority was discovered without a pulse at Liberty University and pronounced dead at a hospital an hour later. Dr. Carl Moore, Falwell's physician, said he had a heart condition and presumably died of a heart rhythm abnormality.

If there is an afterlife I'm sure Rev. Falwell is getting his just reward.

Well...I don't know.

Being a basically forgiving person I would prefer to view that his life exhibited what one side of the human life equation has always done in history...and that is to react to change and try to take things back to the way things once were.

We all know that this side of human nature always fails in the long run because nature dictates that change will ALWAYS happen and we are ALL obliged to live and continue on the best that we can. Either humans adapt to the changes nature brings about, or we perish amidst our false fantasies and constructions.

Even though I have always been on the side of adapting to change and seldom on the side of rigidly conserving the past circumstances, I do admire his faith in his beliefs and his steadfast dedication to enable the continuance of his vision, even though I believe that much of it all will not be effective for much longer. Time always tells the truth.

flow....;)

"pronounced dead at a hospital an hour later."

Why couldn't they pronounce it at the scene? d-e-a-d.... Not a tricky word ;/

 Ever the comedian, Angel.

My feeling is that he died in his office. Since he was rushed to the hospital while giving CPR, I don't think he could have been declared dead without an attending physician.

I rather admired Reverend Falwell, even took some correspondance courses from his university. I think he quit the Moral Majority because he basically completed his task of pulling the religious right into the Republican party during the Reagan era. Then he just wanted to go back to preaching the Old Time Gospel and running his university, though he was still outspoken about the issues and made numerous appearance on talk shows and such. He did make some controversal remarks, such as those after 9/11, which I didn't like.

Neither did Tinky Winky.

Gotta make some waves, if you want that boat to make it ;/

Tinky Winky?.... Ain't that a tellytubby?

Why have I never heard of this guy? I freaking love him!

I had a student ask me, "Could the savior you believe in save Osama bin Laden?" Of course, we know the blood of Jesus Christ can save him, and then he must be executed.

Grown men should not be having sex with prostitutes unless they are married to them.

aint that the freaking truth? If you're grown... You best be married to that prostitue... If your underage... That's fine.... But if you are old enough you better make dang sure it's your wife....

I do not believe the homosexual community deserves minority status. One's misbehavior does not qualify him or her for minority status. Blacks, Hispanics, women, etc., are God-ordained minorities who do indeed deserve minority status.

R.I.P we hardly knew yee.... ;\

Yes this guy, a Christian facist, famously declared the Tellytubbies to be teaching children about Satan.

TE

Naw, Falwell was only concerned with Tinky Winky because he believe it promted the homosexual lifestyle. Tinky Winky was the tall purple Teletubby with the purse.

But with a name like Tinky Winky, he must have had "envy" problems.

lol

would love him to roll up at the pearly gates and meet a black Jesus and a gay St Peter...

One other thing... From this post... Can anyone tell me who did decided that when you go to heaven (If it's there.) There is a gate and "St" Peter is stood by it... How the freak did they find this out? Who told them that is the case? why "St" Peter? Also those christians here... Of all forms shape and size... (that believe we go to heaven..) Do you believe in this golden gate and "St" Peter and a check list? lol...

Revelation tells us what the gates of heaven are made of, and what the city is made of.

As for St. Pete being the gate keeper...well I'm trying for that job (I just want to get into heaven...I wouldn't mind being the door man). ;)

lol, I'm sure you wouldn't....but I'm also sure there are a few folks you would prefer not be standing in for Peter as you walk up and inquire as to whether your pass is sufficient for entry...:D

Naw, you misunderstood me. I meant to "literally" open and close the gates. Not judge anyone. Just open the door when I'm told and close it when I'm told...:p
