"Not one of them will fall to the ground without your Father's will"

Matthew 10:28-31 says "And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell. Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground without your Father's will. But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows."

The sparrow appears in Proverbs as a bird that needs a proper place to stand before it touches down, and the Psalmist of #83 compares the people of God to a sparrow that finds a resting place near his altars.
Proverbs 26
2 Like a sparrow in its flitting, like a swallow in its flying, a curse that is causeless does not alight.

Psalm 83
2 My soul longs, yea, faints for the courts of the LORD; my heart and flesh sing for joy to the living God.
3 Even the sparrow finds a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, at thy altars, O LORD of hosts, my King and my God.
4 Blessed are those who dwell in thy house, ever singing thy praise! Selah
Even a sparrow is part of G-d's consideration. Although we feel sometimes that we've nowhere to go, nowhere to rest, we can remember that if God cares about the sparrow he certainly must care about us, too.

two for a penny, yet God knows when one falls to the ground, and every hair on our heads has been numbered by God...what else is new?

Hi Dream,
So maybe this is the way it looks: Sparrows < Humans < Dust and Ashes :eek:

God is portrayed as having good will towards us but does not overvalue us. Loving God requires a very self-deprecating attitude called 'Denying oneself'(Luke 9:23). A human being has to realize that he truly is 'But dust and ashes'(Gen 18:27) in order to love God, because God does not show favoritism to any. Loving the One God is one of the most difficult things a person can do. God has systematically been proving the case that humanity is an inappropriate creation and that humanity must change, so that there will be no room for objection when God makes his move.

If anyone can prove that humanity is more than dust and ashes, then please get started doing it. The peace movement of the 60's was a dismal failure, by-the-way.

Joe
Sorry but that is a bunch of bull crap. Why? Here is why. John 3:16. Man it smacks us right in the kisser. There is NO ROOM for interpretation. He didn't give His life for the birds...

Hey thanks for the replies! I'm sorry I didn't respond faster, but I lose track when I'm watching too many threads.

He he. It took me a minute. :p

Matthew 10
26</SPAN>`Ye may not, therefore, fear them, for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed, and hid, that shall not be known;
27that which I tell you in the darkness, speak in the light, and that which you hear at the ear, proclaim on the house-tops.
28`And be not afraid of those killing the body, and are not able to kill the soul, but fear rather Him who is able both soul and body to destroy in gehenna.
29`Are not two sparrows sold for an assar? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father;
30and of you -- even the hairs of the head are all numbered;
31be not therefore afraid, than many sparrows ye are better.
32`Every one, therefore, who shall confess in me before men, I also will confess in him before my Father who is in the heavens;
33and whoever shall deny me before men, I also will deny him before my Father who is in the heavens.
34`Ye may not suppose that I came to put peace on the earth; I did not come to put peace, but a sword;
35for I came to set a man at variance against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law,
36and the enemies of a man are those of his household
Fear the liar and that liar is the one who conforms to the complacency of lies over the honesty of God (nature never lies/man does)

Proverb 26
1</SPAN>As snow in summer, and as rain in harvest, So honour [is] not comely for a fool.
2As a bird by wandering, as a swallow by flying, So reviling without cause doth not come.
3A whip is for a horse, a bridle for an ass, And a rod for the back of fools.
4Answer not a fool according to his folly, Lest thou be like to him -- even thou.
5Answer a fool according to his folly, Lest he be wise in his own eyes.
6He is cutting off feet, he is drinking injury, Who is sending things by the hand of a fool.
7Weak have been the two legs of the lame, And a parable in the mouth of fools.
To know the truth of the natural occurrence does not come to a fool (of magic).

The story of the sparrow shares that singing of the truth yet not having it, simply by not being honest with existence, is a failure to God.

The premises of a moral life is based on a covenant with reality.
No life is authentic that is in conflict with the order of the universe.”

That was what Socrates said about how true each must be to knowledge.
Do not lie to yourself just to wear the colors of your tribe, family or brother, remain honest to what is true.
A singing sparrow fails unless singing with a pure song.

Matthew 10: 28`And be not afraid of those killing the body, and are not able to kill the soul, but fear rather Him who is able both soul and body to destroy in gehenna.
To live true and die representing it, you live. But fear them who teach you the false and then live within that lie until death……… then all of your choices and life will perish within.

How can any live a life ever-lasting if they do not know what life is?

That is what the truth reveals.

remember the wisdom

"Acquire Wisdom, and with All That You Acquire, Acquire Understanding."
Prov. 4:7.

"Happy Is the Man That Has Found Wisdom"

For Jehovah himself gives wisdom; out of his mouth there are knowledge and discernment
