Women's Work

We've always lived by "try and fix it yourself and learn before paying another." lol.... (Got a book on how to repair over 2,000 house hold items.) This is a lady who asked for a toolbox for her birthday lol... And got a powerdrill for christmas :p I would admit she is better than me, although I naturally would prefer to think I am. ;)

Hmmmm power drill..... never heard it called that before

I've run into one female drywall hanger, she came from the Ukraine. Union though, she wouldn't make it in a piece work world. A number of electricians and plumbers over the years, a few carpenters, one cement finisher too! Quite a few painters, and drywall finishers. But it is a rarity in the trades, and they don't all last long, no political correctness yet on the construction site, if they can't keep up with the rude and crude they move on...

YouTube - Introducing the Purple Cobras (not great quality and doesn't play up to the funny "I think that guy is really dead." moment but still goooood.)

Why do women traditionally get married in white?
"Mommy, why is the bride all dressed in white?"

"Because white is a happy color, and this is the happiest day of her life!"

"So... why is the groom all dressed in black?"

LOL

A lot of our "traditional" wedding rituals in the West are really new- only dating back to early 20th century. It used to be that people married in whatever color they wanted, more or less, or just used their best clothes out of what they had (which was little)- most did not have special clothes just for a wedding, though some might sew a new dress or shirt/pants that would later be church attire or what have you.

Diamonds are also a new thing. Used to be any stone that you liked.

Ah, the joys of marketing. Now we all think we must marry in white and have a diamond.

if i was to ever get married, it would be in a little church (at a place called Greymare, fancy that?!) it only holds about 30 people........ and I wuld invite you all............. now I just have to find mr right....... or mr right now. LOL

Ah, a blast from the past! This is a dangerous topic isn't it? I think it's because everyone knows that the shared sense of gender equality we all share and stump for is utter bollocks, but nobody, and I do mean absolutely nobody is supposed to say that. Even I am afraid of this topic. I'm afraid to say what I actually think. Because nobody's gonna back you up once you stick your neck out on this one, are they?

Hmmmm....should I or shouldn't I?
