"He wanted to come back to Washington and to help with the crisis. And the fact it didn't work out, it's not on his shoulders," said Ron Bonjean, a Republican strategist. "Frankly, it's on the Democrats' shoulders, they're the ones who run Congress."

OK, let me see if I get this right. A majority of dems support the bailout, support President Bush in his request, and it is the dems fault that the bailout failed?

Yeah, Lunamoth, Bizarro world is spin world and spin is the innate language of most politicians. Even the "straight talk express" is inclined to spin. Oh if only politicians really would talk straight, leave out the less-than-honest spins on actual facts, and really, honestly dialogue with each other and the American public. Nick A, if you're still out there you may recall an early thread dialogue you and I had-believe it was technically re Palin-wherein I attempted to explain my cynicism re most politicians. I was then commenting that 1 of the things making me cynical was the universality of political spin. earl

Proverbs 23
1 When you sit down to eat with a ruler,
Consider carefully what is before you;
2 And put a knife to your throat
If you are a man given to appetite.
3 Do not desire his delicacies,
For they are deceptive food.

I don't think there will be enough eye-rolling smilies on all the internet to get me through this bailout and election. :D

Sure, you don't think the Republicans can support such a socialist initiative do you?

The quote says that it is the Dems fault that it failed...not the Repubs victory that they stopped it. And the quote is by a Republican.

Oh yes, blame is the way of the game. Don't claim victory it might come back to haunt you.

And Nancy insulted them, what was she thinking?

Can someone please find an "Oy vey!" smilie for me. Make that a double.

Another thing we must realize. 18 billion in earmarks added to the bill by both parties in an attempt to garner enough votes? 70 billion to the federal reserve for transfer management??

I say not to all of it.

Our current LARGEST ONE DAY DROP EVER of 777 points amounts to the 17th largest drop in history all of which we recovered from.

We dropped in the single digits percentage wise. In 1987 we dropped over 25% in one day and 33% by the time it settled...and those who held on, didn't panic and didn't sell were back in the black in less than 6 months. And those who bought at the bottom did quite well.

Fear...False Expectations Appearing Real.

Yes Earl I have given up. The question of what creates human perspective is not open to discussion and the Internet is not the place for it since it invites creating an image rather than being honest as it pertains to the human condition . There really is no sense in continuing since the real value of religion is in awakening to the relativity of human perspective.

It requires admitting the human condition described well by Paul as the "wretched man." We prefer expressing and arguing perspectives rather than considering the relativity of perspective itself and what creates it.

Politics reveals the human condition rather than creating it. It cannot be any other way. Politics requires catering to the human condition. I appreciate Sarah because growing up as she did in Alaska, she hadn't been conditioned to being sleazy as is normal for politics. She gives us an idea of what could be possible if we were not so conditioned.

Since we are what we are, everything is as it is including politics. Welcome to the real world

I absolutely DO think they can. The Republican party is currently dominated by socialist filth like GW Bush.

They'll take drink the medicine with a spoonful of sugar...'sweeteners' - up the FDIC level from 100k, keep tax cuts, modify AMT, etc....ie Republican earmarks for the 'rich' (which beneifit every Democratic Senator and Congressman)
