How many areas of teachings or lessons in 'faith' all have to lead to one answer, "I don't know'?

ie..... if we have only been here about 6k years, then why are there dinosaur bones? ..... i don't know.

if all men I ever met were born from women then why did God have to take a rib from adam to make eve? ....... i don't know.

if God gave us words to read as law, then why not give us a straight answer rather than play games with so many interpretations?

Namaste Bishadi,

This life is a test. It isn't multiple choice, it is a life long choice.

When you do know you'll have passed the test and not be in this classroom any longer.

You can study by the book, with a mentor, with a group or go within.

I don't know is the interim answer, not the final one.

peace bro.

The thread is not for me.

as to read the comment from another turned me to see through anothers eyes.

As each question unanswered at these levels may offer another wisdom as well.

The intent is to see what others may have in questions, as maybe there is something another had not seen.

Meaning if my child was on this site, I would not like to find....'i don't know' as an answer...... as people WE THE PEOPLE should be developing knowledge for our future..........

How many "i don't knows" can be addressed?

If all the answers were laid out how would the child grow? Educate....educar...not to push in answers but to draw them out.

I want my child to explore to be inquisitive...tis the teach a man to fish...

I like this idea of an I Don't Know section!

Think of the rib not as just a splinter of bone but as the forces between men and women which attract us to each other yet which also repel us. The Heb. word that has been translated rib is usually rendered into English as side or chamber -- not rib. (Concord) I think it is not referring just to a rib but to the symmetry and asymmetry in our body organs. Altogether, several types of symmetry and asymmetry are represented between men and women. Our bodies appear symmetric externally, but there are internal organs like the heart, liver, and bowels that are not symmetric. These organs approach a kind of symmetry when there are two bodies together. There are even body parts that men & women can share, called 'Reproductive organs;' however we can only get so close together, have so much symmetry. I think its not that a rib had to be taken to make the woman, but that a special dynamic was created in humankind between the sexes. The story of Genesis may relate to us what this is for....

...but I don't know for sure what it is! Care to speculate?

That I know; the question is based on an incorrect assumption.

if all men I ever met were born from women then why did God have to take a rib from adam to make eve? ....... i don't know.
That I know; the question confuses metaphor with reality.

if God gave us words to read as law, then why not give us a straight answer rather than play games with so many interpretations?
That I know; the presumption of the clay knowing more than the potter.

The thread is not for me.
Oh? Is the question in the OP not for everybody? Surely not knowing is not a fault, and ignorance not a crime; unless it is deliberate and willful ignorance.

Isn't "I don't know" an honest answer? Is it better to lie when one doesn't know the answer? Are these the kinds of answers you hoped or expected to see? Is there not a great presumption in the OP regarding the abilities and motivations of others?

Meaning if my child was on this site, I would not like to find....'i don't know' as an answer...... as people WE THE PEOPLE should be developing knowledge for our future..........
Ah! I see yet another fallacy brewing...

Why is the sky blue? Why does thunder peal after the lightning strike? Perhaps you know, perhaps you don't. For centuries I would guess many thoughts were put forward to explain, but at most only one is factually true. Do we have that truthful answer today? I don't know. I don't know because tomorrow somebody may come along with a better explanation, and I want to be open to hear it. I want my children to be open to hear it too.

What is the nature of time? What is gravity? What is the relationship of matter to energy? What is light made of? Why do flags wave in the wind? All of these are simple physics questions...without answers.

And then there are questions of the heart and of spirit; What is love?

For a simple question with a simple answer I agree children should be taught. But to narrow a child's horizon to rote and ritual, by demanding a simple answer whether true or not to a complex question, is to sabotage a child's innate curiousity and wonder. It stifles their imagination.

How many "i don't knows" can be addressed?
I don't know.

People who do think they know everything, scare me.

Truth is absolute!

So if a question is true; there is an answer!
Do we not first have to learn to ask the correct question and then be willing and able to hear the answer when it comes?

The answer "I know" locks our minds away from possibilities.

If you don't know then yeah 123 your right it is honest, best to be honest than lie..... so a "I don't know" or a "god knows" here and there is best.... Or you can just make up an answer, but that doesn't answer anything... I think I am kinda edging towards wisdom instead of knowledge now... My bad.

My kids ask me questions all the time that I dont know the answer to, however........I direct them to where they can get an answer. I dont have to know everything......although i am learning all the time.....If i knew everything or thought i did, Id be bored outta my brain. LOL.
Its definately ok to say "i dont know"
Its also definately ok to say "Im sorry"
You CANT know everything, because if you did you wouldnt ask us our opinion, because you would already know it...
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmm????

If you knew everything, you would be the exact idea of the Creator, as I would say that it knows everything... We are mortals, us many, many, small creatures.... In the scale of things, we pretty much know nothing....

Its amazing really. We know so little yet so many people insist on filling their heads with third rate meaningless pseudo-knowledge. It's like there is a huge big long table filled to brimming with all types of delicious goodies, but everybody is scrabbling round on the floor looking for roaches and spiders to eat.

And amazing how many class something as meaningless.... :)
