Hey all,

Found this forum and thought it would be good to see what's going on in the world of interfaith. I work for the Council of Christians and Jews - we have just launched a new website (see signature url) and have lots of projects to help Jews and Christians come together in peace.

Not too sure how signature urls work, so as I am a new poster I'll have to omit links from this post - but if you type Council of Christians and Jews into Google we are there :) We are hoping to link up with other interfaith charities, if anyone is interested, reply in this thread!

Greetings. There is a lot of interfaith work being done in London. My mother works for an interfaith group as part of the islamic cultural center in london. The main members are from the London Central Mosque, The West London Synagogue, St Johns Wood Church, Marylebone Church, St Margerets Church Westminister Abbey.

I have been to many of their meetings, and charity events, community activities. The idea is to promote understanding, and share ideas and come together as a community.

I have sent them the link to this and asked them to post and get in contact. :-)

Peace.
:)

Oh....should I start listing my problem with you BB?

Seriously...to this Christian the days of issues with Jews are over but those conspiraccy theorists won't rest till you quit pretending your not ruling the world.

cmhall42, you ignored contact details on the front of site to simply come in and try and self promote your website directly on these forums for free.

Can you give me one good reason not to bin this thread and ban you as a spammer?

I can't speak for cmhall, but I would never have known about the council if not for this thread. It may have been better if he had tagged it along with another thread, however, or simply created a generic one that didn't refer to any particular organisation, but just the general theme of relations between Jews and Christians.

But relations between them are certainly strained by attempts at proselytisation on the Christian side, as well as the belief among some that organisations around the world have been set up by Jews as a way of manipulating world events in favour of Jewish interests.

These organisations may indeed exist and may well be serving Jewish interests to some extent, but haven't all three faiths been accused at particular times and places for creating political and organisational frameworks to form conspiracies?

Christian missionaries are typically seen as agents of Western countries who serve to weaken Muslim societies. In Western countries there is fear that the revenue earned from oil in the Middle East is used to channel resources toward converting Western countries to Islam, funding madrasas, Islamic indoctrination schools and training terrorists.

I think these conspiracy theories exaggerate the threat.

Oh BTW Brian, when you said "contact details" did you really mean "code of conduct?" I only just noticed. I understood the message but didn't see the words.:)

If it was a council of christians jews and muslims, then it would be interesting, but until all three streams are sitting at the table....... you don't have much.
Seem to be missing one branch of the family.
So back to the streets and resolve that if you wish to gain any ground.

that is the task of the "three faiths forum" in the uk at any rate. the ccj is one of the oldest dialogue organisations i've ever struck, but i think they struggle a little for relevance these days, which was the purpose of my question.
