Can a mortal ask questions which God finds unanswerable?

Welcome aboard, Samana Johann!

I find myself leaning towards not taking life too seriously. Life is a terminal condition, nobody gets out alive. Might as well enjoy the ride.

Since Juantoo enjoys quotes, maybe he will find some use full here and gain reasonable joy:

From the Balavagga:
Long is the night to one who is wakeful; long is one yojana to the traveller who is tired; long is samsara to the fool, who is ignorant of the true Dhamma.

From the Yamakavagga:

People, other than the wise, do not realize, "We in this world must all die," (and, not realizing it, continue their quarrels). The wise realize it and thereby their quarrels cease.

He who keeps his mind on the impurities (of the body), who is well-controlled in his senses and is full of faith and energy, will certainly be not overwhelmed by Mara, just as stormy winds cannot shake a mountain of rock.

From the Sahassavagga

Better than a thousand verses that are senseless and unconnected with the realization of Nibbana, is a single verse, if on hearing it one is calmed.

All of Us: Beset by birth, decay, and death

Atma (my person) will now leave you alone here on you journey. May you have a good ride in this wheel.

Not the slighest desire for on going suffering, oldage, birth and death, Juantoo. So such is not really a nice wish in all cases. When said leave alone than actually mean leave alone/back.

The object of life is not to be on the side of the majority, but to escape finding oneself in the ranks of the insane. -Marcus Aurelius

I see. In that case, I am offended by your rudeness.
Guess Juantoo got it wrong again. For one who loves to get born, old, sick, and die, a wish to have a nice ongoing journey is a nice and maybe also well meant while to wish somebody the same who actually sees the danger in the world is not.
So it could only be seen as rude to that extend if somebody would feel offended that the desire to wander on is a foolish desire. But since you seem to be firm and joyful wandering on, not seeing the slightes danger, you need all good wishes for you journey.

I've never claimed to be perfect, inerrant or infallible, :)

In attempting to make allowance for cultural and language differences, I've also been generous with my interpretations of your posts...a generosity that it seems is abused with some replies as though you seem to think rather highly of yourself and insist on belittling others.

At least now I have a more firm grasp on where you are coming from, so I would say my calculated responses have served their purpose quite well.

I would add that your outlook implies you expect multiple "rebirths" (in whatever form or words you prefer to use), where I am only certain of this one life...and I choose to live this life as if it is the only life I will ever receive. That is my adaptation of Pascal's Wager, I don't count on any form of rebirth...the only life I am guaranteed is the one I am living now. I live my life daily with constant reminder of this very thing...I only get *one* chance, and this is it. If I am correct, then I have done well in my reasoning. If I am incorrect, it doesn't matter...no harm, no foul.

As for your quote above I cannot dispute, for "No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon." Matthew 6:24
