yeh we've all got different dates for the same thing but it all tastes good, positivity in the new in the old and eternal, thats wots its about.. music brings it all together, forever. but if theres a tale to tell to warm the cockles of the heart and breed that positivity let me know and shout it from the rooftops!

let the party begin

Wishing you all a happy new year in 2010. The 1st decade of the new millenium is now officially over and we can see there is much to do. I saw the fireworks go off in Hong Kong before the bells tolled here; at the same time on the news Canadians lost lives in Afghanistan and a Finnish troubled mind took some people down with him.

But I was heartened by watching good work done in the Tsunami 2004 areas, tourists who had lost their children setting up funds and centres to help the orphaned of that disaster. Personally I had my offspring nearby and I have to say if the young of today are half as tuned in and cottoned on as they then I am somewhat relieved of many a worry in todays world.

Lang may yer lum reek [may your chimney keep smoking ie be ye kept warm and alive and working properly!]

want to post a tribute to chic murray, RIP [the only clip and not the best of this great droll man, the best jokes dont put anyone down], scottish hogmany memories, auld lang syne, bothy ballads and comics:)

I hadn't heard about hogmany until the other day when I read about it in the newspaper. It said it involved five days of celebration. Could this be true?

Aye, the Scots have always known how to party!

aye, in the old days it went on for the month, ie every weekend there was a party on at the next house and folk to catch up with; certainly if youre wise youll leave off the new year proper till the 5th! people 'first foot' your house which is considered auspicious and you ply them with booze and snacks..:p
