Censorship, forums, freedom, crime

Kali-yuga is known as the “Age of quarrel & hypocracy”
---well the diametrically opposite-concern-worlds of the OP proceeds on-course:

Muslim nations end anti-defamation push:
the concept ran against international law and free speech, and left the way open for tough “blasphemy” laws like those in Pakistan …

Today's the day!

Save the internet!

in the early days the internet was a tool for freedom, now days it seems to be a tool for marketing, control and manipulation.

Either that or I am just not switched on enough and looking in the wrong place.

I would say that porn is healthy for the American market, so you're probably good.

Maybe goodbye to forums with 'contentious' content...?

almost anything resembling someone speaking from their heart can be construed as some manner of non-pc related hate speech by some group if they really have an itch to scratch, especially in the age of the 10 second sound bite and out of context quoting.

i dislike the whole idea behind this nebulous idea of censoring what some, clearly, unelected bureaucrat has deemed to be worthy of censoring, limiting access to and controlling knowledge and ideas is not something governments of free people should be doing, imo.

[It is] inconceivable that we should allow so great a possibility for service and for news and for entertainment and education [as radio] ... to be drowned in advertising chatter or used for commercial purposes.
Herbert Hoover, 1922

The internet is a tool for communications. It's no more a tool for "freedom" than a telephone.

I never thought of that analogy.

A telephone ..... I'd really like to censor prank calls ..... but unfortunately, a person can choose, at the last-second to not turn it into a prank.

But if a person consistently makes prank calls, they could be reported to the Telephone Police.

Speaking of analogies, what about a prank web page, or ..... telephone porn?

Is there a way to download Wikipedia onto my computer so that if this happens again, I won't be dying of information starvation?

Frantic copying and pasting might slow the decline, but eventually we will only have the thoughts that Rupert Murdoch wants us to have.

At least we still have Google. I can't imagine what will happen when that goes down. Something tells me Yahoo and Bing aren't that good.

It won't be the end of the world, but it will be the end of the world I know. Losing the world I know will force me to discover a world I don't know, and the information crunch that follows will feel much like the credit crunch.

Imagine if information was like debt. You have to give it back one day. My brain needs information to survive and when I don't get it .......... Maybe this is the beginning of another Great Depression.

I disagree...with what you've said that bing and yahoo aren't good. They are both good maybe you just have a low internet connection and you dont know how to use specific keywords for much better impression on both..

Holy Cow Dung!

I just found this on a "Hindu Forum":

It was posted by the founding Moderator of the site.
The J word - Hindu Dharma Forums

I cannot believe for a micro-second that this is overtly a Hindu Site.

Nudge-Nudge, know what I'm talking about?

Yes Possibly it is spurned by frantic Nationalism ---but it is totally antithetically "Bizarro".

Is it a site that actually is a Faux-Hindu site subtly propagating Anti-westener's presence in South Asia ---who would be promoting such things?

Get India to expell the West?

Yeah They Banned me from the site. Must have been obvious what a large pair of Index fingers I must have when typing in posts!

The J word
Namaskar,

Starting immediately, any new post that mentions the J word will be deleted.

Jesus has nothing to do with Hinduism and HDF. Based on history of usage of this word on the forum I can only remember that it has only caused misery on HDF, therefore, don't be surprised when your posts get deleted if you try to inject the word Jesus in posts on this forum.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Yeah you guessed it. The Web-master for the site IS NOT based in India, but rather is located in Canada.
