Since we're entering the "Gregorian Calendar" new year, I thought I would post some info. on the Baha'i Calendar:

When my son was born thirty some years ago he was born in the month of "Sharaf" (Honor) so he carries that name as his middle name.. He's very proud to this day to be named after a Bhaa'i month...

There's a site where you can have the current Baha'i day and month easily available to you on a face page..

Today is

Justice, 17th of Questions, 168 Badí

Idál, 17th of Masá’il, 168 Badí

یوم العدال، ۱۷ شهر المسائل، ۱۶۸ بدیع

چهارشنبه، ۷ دی، ۱۳۹۰

Wednesday, 28th of December, 2011

The other important feature of the Baha'i Calendar is that it is a solar calendar and could be a perrenial calendar each year.. all we have to do is add a day for Ayyam-i-Ha every leap year.

Also it is easy for pre-school children to remember that each month always has nineteen days and each year nineteen months.

The Baha’i year consists of 19 months of 19 days each (361 days), with the addition of “Intercalary Days” (four in ordinary and five in leap years) between the eighteenth and nineteenth months to adjust the calendar to the solar year. The months are named after the attributes of God.
The Baha’i New Year coincides with the March equinox (March 21). The Baha’i Era commenced with the year of the Bab’s declaration (1844 A.D.). Each Baha’i community holds a Nineteen Day Feast on the first day of each Baha’i month. The Feast has spiritual, administrative and social functions and is the primary locus of fellowship and community decision-making in each Baha'i locality. Because the Baha’i day lasts from sunset to sunset, the Nineteen Day Feast is generally held in the evening on the day before the first day of the Baha’i month according to the Gregorian calendar.
