Charecter VS Sheel

There is a word in buddhism Sheel. There is no word in english for this. Most nearest word i found near to it is Charecter but too far.

Sheel:: It is existial complete behavior of a person when the person overflows with unconditional Joy and Love. It developes inside, His behavior with outer world is just a refelection of tresure which has developed inside. It can be developed, cultivated but can not be tought. There can not be a teacher who can teach you Sheel. It cares about truth only.

Charecter:: Charecter is very cheep compaired to Sheel. It whole moto is to ensure survival of person in the socity. It cares about acceptability not truth. That is why all those who loves good charecter always crusify Jesus, Poison Socrateese, Throw away muhammada, Abuses Mahavira......


I am sure all great beings like Buddha, Jesus, Lao tzu,Srikrishna and many ore were charecterless. What do you think??? Plz tel me

do you think blissful, might be closer to the word you are looking for?

What is your native language? Hindi? Urdu? is it possible for you to explain it in your native language and then see what the translators do with it?
 
Yes, please. I can "wade through" Pali and can only come up with "sila", which does not really translate to "character". Rather more like "virtue of mind made manifest"--this could be it. But then the English would be "virtuous character". It is not rare for basic Sanskrit-Pali terms to require more than one English term to translate.

Well, I have a brother named Susheel, and had an aunt named Susheela. A common hindu name. It goes more with "well behaved" (first meaning), but has relation to "virtuous character" (deeper meaning) also. :)

Many thanks for your reply. I respect your understanding. Any way i have a rather different view on Sushil / Sushila.

This Su has no sence as adjective in definiation of Sheel. Sheel has existantial beauty and beyond the Su OR KU (Anti of Su). It has no sence to add with su and ku. Let me give a example to clarify my view.

If I say "My love for you is true" than there in no meaning of word True here. If love is not true then definately it is not love. If it is love then what is the meaning to say true.

This Su and Ku has lot of meaning to define a behaviour as accepted or rejected by socity. It just dragdown the meaning of Sheel, closer to character. If i say you are sheelvan then it has great sence but if i say you are susheelvan then we miss something very valuable. This Susheelvan has limitation and dependency on socity but looses beauty of Sheel which in independent and overflowing unconditioned existential beauty.

BLISSFULL:: Perfect Happiness / Great Joy.

Thanks for sharing your view. Allow me to put my view..Blissfull in not a basic word. It needs additional word to come closer. Sheel has nothing to do with perfection. Sheel is beyong perfection and imperfection both. That is why it does not ensure acceptability or rejection by socity. May be accepted, may be rejected. It overflows from inside. It has nothing to do with external affairs. It is always true, can never be false.
