What makes you think you are right about belief?

But not for the members of the literal interpretation club. There is some learning in the letter, no doubt, but the Truth is found only in the metaphorical realm of reality. Most of the Bible is written on the basis of poetry, prophecies and dreams. One is required to have some expertise in metaphorical language to understand the truth of poetry, prophecies and dreams.
again we find blocks of information that can be combined for a foundation of agreement

Materialism, the curse of the orthodoxy of Judaism, is what damns the Jew (or any of us) to ignorance - both in the present incarnation, and in the afterlife. You will experience the same life review as the rest of us, Buddhist or atheist, Jewish or Christian, mystic or magician. And I share this with a Smile. You can even `take' your own life - and this changes matters but very little.

There is nothing so smug as thinking that you know everything, thinking that your own view on things is the standard, the clearest one, or that you - in fact - ARE the standard. The adept [esoterically, not our friend and fellow Interfaith poster] is the only standard that the esotericist adheres to, and every religious teaching or spiritual path does have an equivalent, or example of the Adept. Often this is simply called `The Savior.'

To believe that God has a `chosen' or favored people ... immediately proves your utter and complete ignorance on matters both religious and spiritual. A person declaring such may at least be admired for being honest about his or her faith, but that is where the good example ends. Most of us today, certainly on these forums, are not so ignorant. Most of us are not so vain, so presumptuous, and so blind as to believe any such foolishness. I can understand how quickly anyone persisting in such a view would make it to our IGNORE list, regardless as to how polite s/he otherwise attempts to be. I would not welcome you to my table if you carried on like this, and I can well relate to those who similarly, have no patience for this type of foolishness.

God's CHOSEN poeple?

This is a DISGUSTING notion.

These two terms: Jew and ignorance can hardly run parallel to each other. If they do, you can be sure that they will never meet. More akin to ignorance would rather be to hold unto the idea of incarnation of matter or that there is any thing in the afterlife different from death. Sorry to rain on your parade of illusions.

That's the problem with ignorance in many people. God has not chosen us; we have chosen God. It has been from taking our choice seriously that we have become known as the chosen People of God.

If you are serious at implying that Jews are fools, read the Essay about the Jews by Mark Twain and perhaps you will change your mind. No, he was not Jewish if you might ask.

God's CHOSEN poeple? This is a DISGUSTING notion.

Yes, but for Jew-haters and because they are unable to understand that the concept originated with Abraham who chose God and sired a people who became known as the chosen People.

Shib said "That's the problem with ignorance in many people. God has not chosen us; we have chosen God. It has been from taking our choice seriously that we have become known as the chosen People of God."

More specifically that Jews have chosen their God most seriously means that Jews have become the chosen People of Their God.

To suggest that other people have not chosen their version of God as seriously as the Jews have is a silly comment. My impression is that most people have chosen their God very seriously indeed. Much to the detriment of the species, but that is another story.

Another concept of yours which I would suggest might be a flaw is that those who disagree with you are, by definition 'Jew haters'. There is, or at least there should be, enough room in the world for people to have honest disagreements.

"God's CHOSEN people?"

--> As a matter of fact, according to some Theosophists, the Jews were the chosen people. They were chosen as the group of people from which the first village of the Fifth Root Race was started. Yes, it started from one little village and now encompasses every nationality and ethnic group on earth. (The giants of the Bible were the Fourth Root Race.)

Actually I think what he is saying is that they have chosen to follow the commandments, chosen to teach the history during seders, chosen to rise above, chosen to pass on the stories, chosen raise their children to know they are better, not to be carpenters, or laborers, or work for low hourly wages....they work together to form businesses, develop skills that will reward them in life....this is shown by the results/rewards....

The materialist and atheist alike will have a difficult time reconciling his beliefs regarding God - or the lack thereof - with science eleven, or thirteen dimensions. Esotericsts of some traditions posit 343 sub-states of matter (which is 7x7x7). So far, science is aware of four. A few years ago, it was three. And hey, that's progress. Just 339 more ...

I wonder Who oversees, and of course, what that has to do with the many Yous, and oh, the many, many Mes. Give it awhile, oh Kronos, and I'm p-d-confident, ALL'of US are bound to see.

Just read this quote...this thread is as good as any to add it to....

“When the Creator, whoever or whatever He may be, created creation, there were no temples, no mosques, no churches, no synagogues, no telling of beads, no prattle of priests, no chanting of hymns, no offering of bribes at altars. When rituals came into existence, God gradually began to fade out of it.”

In response to the original post, I think it can be answered on different levels.

My personal experience has been that practice leads to belief. I.e., if one behaves as if he believes "X", then over time he comes to believe "X".

On another level, since I believe in G-d, I think that He influenced my life so as to lead me to my beliefs.

Interesting.

In the case of Judaism, which I practice, every ritual is supposed to be accompanied by the recitation of a blessing to G-d, so that rather than fading, the connection is strengthened.

What creator is Meher Baba is talking about? What is Meher Baba's proof of existence of God/Gods/Goddesses?

Welcome Dan.

There can be no proof of God(s). You know that Aup. Otherwise I believe the entire point of the man's message was that when the creator created everything there were no variants of who it was. All the creators that we have established since then have been human constructs.

Hey Dan

I think the connection is always there whether we are aware of it or not, what do you think ?

Of the only God there is. The real God does not constitute of a multitude of gods. God is of an absolute Oneness. I think you understand a little about Jewish Monotheism.

I am talking about Jewish Monotheism and not the gods chosen by other peoples. You have taken my comment and turn it into a silly one for what purpose not too hard to figure.

About Jew haters, do you need me to open their book of 2,000 years history? I don't think so. Perhaps you are trying to refute me with the opposite that they were rather ********** and not Jew haters. It just happens that, by accident or acts of God we have lost millions of Jews.

Is that the reason why so many hate so few?

There is quite a truth in what you say.

All right GK, let us discard all the creators that creationists have established and see if we can find proof for the Primal Cause from another angle.
1. The universe exists an no one can deny it.
2. The universe is composed of matter and that's another undeniable truth.
3. Now, from the logical point of view, matter cannot cause itself to exist and there is no other way to spell it.
4. Therefore, the universe was caused to exit by some thing that preceded it and, obviously from outside of it. Whatever it was, let us call it the Primal Cause. What could it have been if not a supernatural intelligent Being? You can go ahead and set up your refutation. If it makes sense, I'll be ready to comply. If it doesn't you have the proof of God's existence.

Where did G!d come from then? what made G!d exist out of nothing?

Matter has always been here...

or matter was created when anti matter, dark matter, nothing matters was created....from the void going negative the positive had to appear...bang
