A Pat on the Back and a Sigh of Relief

I remember that, as well as your reaction to it. As I recall, we didn't get any work done for 3 days! Hell, I just stayed out of your way.:D
Hey, mess with me, no problem. Mess with my kid, PROBLEM! Got off my bike mainly cause, not only didn't an educator and school administrator know the difference between a Confederate flag and a Union Jack, bedwetter decided unilaterally that displaying such violated school policy! Turns out, at the time at least, it did not.

Name calling aside, seems like you missed an opportunity to educate.

I guess I was lucky... Didn't have to fight admin or teachers with my kids.

...and it's microwavable!:D

I saw some tins of that stuff earlier this week (different brand, though) at the store. It was next to the kasha (or was it next to the matzoh meal?) along with tins of the custard sauce that goes with it.

It's a shame that it's off my diet, otherwise I'd try it (allergies and diabetes suck Flint, Michigan water.)

Might as well be... Bedwetter - (Down under for Liberal Lefty).
Oh, ok...:D I'll go along with that.;)

Hey Wil, believe me, when Aussie got done explaining the facts of life to the gent in question, Re #36, that fellow had no trouble differentiating a Union Jack from a Confederate flag, nor what was and was not permissible under school policy. Dude got schooled!

BTW, don't know if that has anything to do with it or not, but by the time my Grandnephew had entered that same school a couple years later, that fellow was no longer part of our school system. Another BW had taken his place!:D:D:D

Don't care for the stuff myself. Always put me in mind of raw cookie dough, which I guess some folks also love.;)

As NJ alluded, had my say in that regard... and then some. Can't teach folks like that though. Too cock sure of themselves.

Speaking of missed opportunities to educate... You know, curriculum my son was being taught in the states was so far behind the equivalent Australian grade, when we moved back here, he almost had to repeat a grade. Too damn busy being politically correct to teach I suppose. Thankfully, he caught up on his own and was able to advance on time and ever since.

Sorry we slowed your kid down! I think that is why we have four and a half million intl students in our colleges, they must find it a breeze!!

Yeah, good many foreign students vying for Australia visas as well. Excellent Universities in both countries, but that's nothing to do with 3rd grade curriculum and how it was being administered in the school my son attended there. Well below the standards, at the time, of the school he transfered to here.

You saying if they are behind by third grade they wouldn't further behind by 12th grade? And less prepared for uni than other countries?

Only saying what I said, mate. Not what you're trying to read into it. The school my son attended in the states, taught their 3rd grade curriculum below the standards of the school he transferred to in Australia. End of story. No idea if that's the case in other schools and grades or what impact that may or may not have on further education. Just relating my personal experience.

Since my son had completed 3rd grade in the states, he was admitted here as a year 4 student. Now, there are things taught here by the end of year 3 he had yet been exposed to there. Thus, he quickly fell behind. By years end however, he had caught up, mostly on his own and was able to advance. Not so sure that would have been the case had he stayed in his previous academic environment where the emphasis seemed to by on political correctness rather than education.

Might just be that school. I mean, supposedly the curriculum has to be approved by the board of education, but I say that because, my Grandnephew graduated from 5th grade there then went on to middle school. He had the hardest time in 6th grade. Especially in math. He kept getting more and more frustrated and saying to his mother that nobody ever taught us this. We thought it was just poor study habits, but after reading this I wonder.

This I can attest to. Sometime in 3rd or 4th grade a school counselor sent for my Grandnephew's parents. They were told he had drawn a picture of a blood soaked dagger and that this was indicative of someone intent on doing harm to themselves or others. Long story short, eventually they brought my Grandnephew in and confronted him with the drawing. "What is this," the counselor asked? At which point my Grandnephew turned the drawing 90 degrees so that the image was pointing up and said, "It's a red tipped rocket like the one we saw in that video at assembly last week." Apparently, he had told his teacher the same thing, but she turned him in anyway siting school policy. You'd think that'd be the end of it, but no. They actually sent a social worker to his home to follow up. On the ball at that school I tell you. No time to teach math, but we're gonna nip those rocket drawers in the bud!o_O

Lol, my boy when asked to do a project on how to handle the troubles of the world, pollution, climate change, over population, clean water shortages, povert, starvation, etc.... He said destroy every city over one hundred thousand and start over with what is left... Repeat as needed

When questioned he asked if anyone else had a better solution....odds are he is on a watch list

I just found out my wife's nephew in Fiji is now Assistant Pastor of his church. I knew he had converted from Hindu to Christian a while back and that he was active in the church, but I had no idea he planned to take it that far. Couldn't be prouder if he were my own son.:)
