Past, Present, Beyond?

While older, my students are basically like this.
Lol, Steve. Brilliant. Thank you :)

Technology moves us along and of course we have to move with it, or die like dinosaurs. But there's a lot lost too. Those old, cracked photographs in a box in the attic and discovered quarter-century later -- never again. Although we still have some of them scanned onto thumb-drives, etc.

What's the answer?

@wil
Here is the full 50 minute video about the internal ramp. 2013. It is very convincing, actually. Thank you for bringing it to attention:

Just great big govt social projects to keep the masses working
From the documentary I saw, it was, as Wil says, a 'great big govt social project' that was the foundation of Egypt's domination of the region.

Also the canal and the port right below the pyramids is being uncovered, and rather than whip-driven Jewish slaves as Hollywood had it, the enterprise was a well-engineered commercial enterprise, where everyone was making money. Again in the doc I saw there was a thriving town, with a high-density population living in barracks, where boat crews brought the stones in, stones were cut and shaped, moved into place, then R&R for exhausted workers, then off you go to fetch the next stone. Everyone was on a trickle-down commission — a pyramid scheme :)D) — the pottery remains tell the story, and they found the 'ship's log' for one of the vessels that carried the stones?

What? Pyramids were built for the aristocracy
You are not really suggesting that they gave all their money to "charity", surely? ;)

The pharaoh's beliefs were a bit like Hollywood film stars, in as much as they believed
that they could "live forever" if they were well-preserved .. they didn't have cryogenics, of course :D

No, but it appears the guys who quarried the stones, shifted the stones, dressed the stones and placed the stones were paid for their labour[/QUOTE]

Replace the word pyramids with skyscrapers, cathedrals, aircraft carriers...

Nobody is saying they give the money to charity they give their money to infrastructure and edifices just like we do

"Late Lament"

Breathe deep the gathering gloom,
Watch lights fade from every room.
Bedsitter people look back and lament,
Another day's useless energy spent.
Impassioned lovers wrestle as one,
Lonely man cries for love and has none.
New mother picks up and suckles her son,
Senior citizens wish they were young.
Cold hearted orb that rules the night,
Removes the colours from our sight.
Red is grey and yellow white.
But we decide which is right.
And which is an illusion
