CORONA VIRUS

The guy who crossed the Irish sea 5 hours on a jet ski in sea conditions that experienced fishermen would not go out in, from Scotland to the Isle of Man, which will not accept visitors UK visitors at the moment.

Then he left the jet ski on the beach and walked 15 miles to his girlfriend's house. But he was jailed on the Isle of Man for four weeks. They didn't see the romantic side of it, lol

News is she's home and mending well. She's a yoga instructor, so we feared life-changing injuries, but hospital assures not. Hoping her rapid recovery is in part due to her fitness. Apparently core strength is a big deal in all kinds of recovery scenarios.

Meanwhile, hope your sit. and your mum continues to improve.

Well, She did not oblige me for the first wish, but accepted the second. My mother expired yesterday. My brothers family had a thanks giving ritual to God for three troubles they faced recently: First my nephew tested '+', then my brother had a fall on road hurting his eyes and coming home of mother from hospital.

I consider this ritual as absolutely childish and funny, though very popular in North India. It is the 'Satya Narayan Katha' (story of the God which values truth). It contains three stories, two of kings and one of a merchant engaged in foreign trade. Any time they speak untruth, God punishes them, but when they return to truth they are doubly rewarded.

Due to virus, there was not a large crowd (we have limits regarding that - 50). My son and my brother's son performed the last rights. As children, my two (a daughter being the first) and his one used to sleep with her. With that comes to an end of my association of 78 years with her. If we think of cricket, she did not score a century but played a nice long inning, getting out at 98 is not bad.

My condolences, Aupmanyav. My mom passed in 2007 at the age of 87. We were quite close. Sad the impact Corona is having on traditional Hindu funeral rights. My mom-in-law is in her upper eighties now and that's a big concern of hers.

I had my 2nd Phizer vax yesterday. No side effects.

Deaths down to one a day here in England. Our three month lockdown started to ease in mid-April; most places are open again. Pubs and restaurants have only outdoor seating and it has been quite a cold and wet last few weeks. Hotels and accommodation are still closed. It’s expected to go on until late June, with masks and social distancing to continue after that.

Some newspapers are calling for an earlier end to all restrictions, but the government want this to be the last lockdown.

I had my second vaccination, too (also Pfizer.) I had a couple of "inconveniences" associated with the vaccine (altered sense of taste and a numb area around the site.) The altered sense of taste cleared up after I took a nap (luckily!) I'm just grateful that I limited myself to mostly bland food with the exception of Diet Cock and Bull brand ginger beer that I picked up just in case I got nauseous.

Really? I was fine both times. Perhaps just a little achey around the top of my arm. But the vax centre was moved from close by where I live, to a town 10 miles away, and then second bus to the vax site 2 miles outside the town -- both busses running hourly, so quite a lot of waiting around. But the volunteer people working there were very good and it was all very efficient.

They are extending vax to over 45s here now. England seems to be getting on top of it, at least for the present

Glad to hear that! Here in Germany, it's all doom and gloom and the umpteenth half-arsed lockdown with exceptions for each federal state's minister president's voters... we have federal elections coming up, and instead of solving the problem these w*****s are all jockeying for position.
 
I have made it to the other side! sort of? maybe? States are opening up...waiting to see repreucssions...if all goes exceedingly well I ecpect shut downs and boosters for variants in the fall. Hopefully folks are willing to follow common sense and protect others by staying in and isolating/quarantining when sick. To me if looks like this is around permanent in some form for the rest of our lives...or until some start treck style discoeries are made in the field.
 
I feel sorry for the undersheriff here:

He's currently(?) recovering from COVID-19-related double pneumonia and his boss/friend succumbed to COVID-19 before he could have the vaccination.

Improvement, but slow, here in India. Delhi, no death, active cases below 500, new cases 37. Kerala and Maharashtra (Mumbai) with more than 1000 new infections. Wednesday's death count 490. Total death count: 4,29,669. We are keeping fingers crossed for another wave.
 
I have a friend and his wife...he vaxxed, she not (don't know why not) they were at an event, both got infected...she got sick and is in ICU, he tested positive non symptomatic.

I had a 2.5 month round the state's Fairwell tour planned...stopping at cities all over visiting friends. All my stops were in areas which are spiking..I am getting a refund from Amtrak
