Most folks don't see me as a Christian, and in their view I think they are correct.

My view of Jesus saves is not to or from a heaven or hell in the afterlife but a heaven or hell on earth.

Sure I still have unemployment, sorrow, my aorta blow up, strokes etc lol. But my understanding leads to a revised perception.

Philippians 2:5: "Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus."

WWJD ...the only begotten. Is continually begotten... now yall know I am not a believer in G!d as creator, as a being but as a Universal principle that simply allows all... if I were a believer and believed G!d made man in his image, and Jesus was G!d on earth that makes us the same here both begotten both images of G!d.

Me thinks Jesus was more connected to his Christ mind...made less mistakes, followed his calling, his virtuous nature, his Devine mind better than we do..we error more, miss the mark more (sin more)

The shift in thinking is the second coming did happen, does happen, continually happens...whenever we put the mind that is in Christ Jesus in our mind...when we WWJD...when we go into that still quiet place...that is Jesus returning to our reality.

Yes, I know this is not conventional Christianity...as most believe, and as most believe I am not a Christian...because I do not always listen, do not always follow.

But as I have said...the bible is my book, even if I read it different than you, I listen to my elder brother and wayshower...but not the way yall do.

It would be interesting if you started a thread- or maybe in this thread? posted some examples of how you interpret passages of the bible that you read 'differently' than - than whom? orthodox Christians I suppose, or differently than orthodox catechisms or theologians Who is "y'all?" orthodox Christians I suppose?
- I'd be curious about examples of how you read the bible and what you have gotten out of it!
 
I am a Christian and would also be interested in how you interpret the Scriptures differently... Do you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, that He died on the cross to pay for your sin so that you may have eternal life?

This moderator overstepped boundaries. I fear.

My goal in this post is not to diminish diminish Or decry an Question belief, but just a contemplation I had that I would like to discuss with Christians but it may be in appropriate in this forum, I should know better.

I would have thought there were half a dozen or more lines in my original post that should.at.least hint to you some interpretations of scripture that vary from your belief, no?

For me, the second coming = new messiah with new teachings. From a social perspective Jesus' message was about abolishing animal sacrifices, replacing the physical temple, abolishing the old guard (Pharisees and the Mosaic law), and promoting non-violent resistance under Roman occupation. These are some of the first things that come to mind when I think of Jesus. Does this summarize everything about Jesus? No.

The second coming, however, features new teachings for a different world.

Yes, but then again there are many Christians who has different views on certain subjects, like for ex. the Calvinist and the Armenian Christian... they are both Christians, because they have no disagreement on the fundamentals of Christianity.
That is why I asked you the question, to see where you stand when it comes to one of the fundamentals.

I like, admire, utilize, embrace a lot of the words and teachings attributed to Jesus in the Bible but don't know for certain that the stories are not an amalgum of a number of folks at the time...or even if he existed.

I have encountered many a person who has asked that type of question in that type of man er in discussion and randomly on the street. I find it intentionally decisive and feels ego driven holier than thou questioning.

I am not saying that is how you intended it, I am saying that is how I (and others) perceive it when folks jump in with this as an initial "hello" while ignoring other discussion.

I believe at this juncture in life I am a nontheistic panentheist unitic. I got no expectations of eternal life, I rather enjoy this one, and whatever comes next (if anything) will be.

Sheesh dude this so sounds like the classic set up for "but what if you are wrong, are you willing to risk your everlasting soul?" But surely you would not stupe to that!

But no not a Christian, just a person who finds great value in many of the words attributed to the Jesus of the Bible.

I prefer exploring the beatitudes over focusing on the 10 commandments alone. The fact that this is the opposite of many who claim Christianity loudly is enough for me to shy away.

I do use and read the Bible..among other religions books, and the church I attend most often is Christian, and there are thousands of denominations/versions/sects of Christianity, some of which point fingers at other sects saying they (the other) aren't Christian as they don't believe as we (whatever we) deem correct...and the finger pointing continues regarding belief.

To me the proof is in the pudding when someone openly decries the poor, or minority, or immigrant as the problem...as it seems to me Jesus is attributed to have spoken directly about that.

I respect other people beliefs and perspectives. Isaiah 61:1. The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek, he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound.
I accept this as the first advent. Jesus came in the flesh. And was crucified.
61:2. To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn. I accept this as second advent. When Jesus returns to establish his kingdom. This is the millennium.

There is only one church and that is the Church of Christ. All the christian churches need to base their teachings on the Word.... if it is not it has to be rebuked by referencing the Bible like the Bereans did, for satan is a deceiver.
Truth is singular not plural. There is only one way... Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me” and said “before Abraham was born, I am!”

These are my beliefs and I am not forcing anyone to accept it, it is their choice.

Reading this, I'm wondering where your ideas are coming from of who Jesus was and what he did. Are you thinking of the Jesus in Bible stories, or are you thinking of some kind of historical Jesus, different from the one in Bible stories? If it's some kind of historical Jesus, how did you decide what to think about who he was and what he did?

I'm responding to this because it's at the heart of my disagreement with Christians. I think that Jesus was the sacrifice to end all ritual sacrifice, a scapegoat to carry all sins away for all time, and a ransom to free us from slavery to the sinful side of our nature, but not that he paid a price that had to be paid or took a punishment that had to be inflicted for our sins. I think that what we owe for out sins is repentance, and that we are forgiven as soon as we repent or maybe even before.

He calls His gospel "gospel of the kingdom." What is your understanding of His teachings about the kingdom?

Maybe that answers my question of what Jesus you're thinking of. It looks like you're thinking of the one in Bible stories, without claiming to know if there ever really was such a person.

See .... 1 Corinthians 6:20 The wages/payment of sin is death, Jesus(who knew no sin) came to die on the cross so that we may have life. Jesus made the payment my friend for us.

I agree, repentance is linked to Salvation. “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” Who are the "we" in this verse...... the believers in Christ. Will we get Salvation just by repentance or do we have to become believers first?.... John 3:16.

I personally would agree, and would add thoughts of what the Bible offers in that regard.

The second coming = New messiah, who will be known and seen as the Father, who will guide us unto all truth. The process of accepting the Father, just as the Son needed acceptance, unfolds in John 16:14, "He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you."
