But, what do I know.
The seated individual is a sun deity.Moral:
Here's another ancient image from Sumerian culture. I see the ruler/leader seated on the right, with three wise men/visitors(?) in front of him. One of these has his hand on a gift to the leader.(?) Looks like he is presenting something to him. This round disc is divided into eight quadrants with a defined center. Four of these dividing lines appear to be solid(straight) shapes on the cardinal directions, while the other shapes are wavy. I see this as denoting movement/flow. Is this a depiction of wise men presenting the ruler with a representation of a device that depicts center with movement of energy flowing into and away from center. No one knows what this circular item represents. Look above this device do you see a being depicted with lines holding this device or is he a spiritual being bestowing this wisdom on these wise men and the ruler? I don't know what the words read that are on this. brian

Moral:The seated individual is a sun deity.
I believe the individual on the far left is King Nabu-apla-iddina.
The other two are the priest Nabu-nadin-shum and the goddess Aa (yes, the third one is female).
The disk is a sun disk. Makes sense for a sun deity.
The waves are representative of the celestial oceans. The stars spent the day in the underworld and the night in the sky.
I'm known for questioning "experts" and the consensus.Moral:
I agree this is what people before us have said, and what current historians say, but.. I try to see ancient things through my mind's eye without having adapted or adopted what they are supposed to mean.
Just like there are metaphors in Genesis that are not clear to modern man, I'm suggesting there are deeper meanings here than what we currently understand.
What did the Sumerians think this sun disk was? Like many cultures wise men hide wisdom in plain sight with metaphors. Only the initiated, even in their time, would understand what the metaphors meant. We, myself included, looking from the outside in, without being taught by someone that was taught the true meanings, can never truly know.
On a trip to China in May of 1999 we visited a Taoist monastery. I bought a book of art there. One of the i mages is an image of laotzu sitting on a large chair with billowy clouds behind him. I copied this image and framed it and put it up in my home. it was up for a year or two and one day I looked at it and I saw another image in the picture standing behind the seated laotzu. It was a very large face. it was the face of Enoch. So what is the face of Enoch doing in an ancient image of Laotzu done by someone in China during ancient times? I've always wondered if latzu and Enoch are the same being. Don't know, just made me wonder. This example is one of many where meanings are hidden within meanings are hidden within meanings...
It could be that this Sumerian image is both what we are discussing.
Thanks.

But I must ask, how do you know it was the face of Enoch? Do we have ancient artwork that depicts Enoch?
OK.Moral:
I agree I think it is always best for the individual to make up his/her own mind.
I started meditating in the spring of 1997 to deal with a difficult job situation I put myself into. My experiences were perfect for me. During one of my meditations, can't say exactly when, I saw an image, in color; which is rare for me, it was a huge face. The face was so large it filled my vision. it was a mans face and he had a smile and billowing white hair. Very comfrtable feeling with this image.
I spent the first 3-4 reading & researching religions of the world. This face and white hair is how Enoch is described in ancient texts. What convinced me was reading works by ancient Jewish mystic, Abraham Abulafia, (He lived in the 13th century is founded prophetic Kabbalah). Abulafia writes about Enoch and seeing him in visions, he descries him as "the price of the face."
This is what I based my opinion on. The image in the Chinese painting is a huge face standing behind laotzu with billowing white hair that looks like cloudsView attachment 6065

Moral: I asked about this yesterday. I am mistaken in what I was suggesting with the Sumerian image. Similar, but not the same. My apologies. brian
