Is the I Ching religion?
I Ching, Dao is interesting (I have not studied it). Any departure from physicality is not my way. With Advaita and Buddha I do not need either I Ching or Dao. What lake, early heaven, later heaven, mountain they are talking about? Just a question, not that I am curious.

Unless there are some metaphysical or transcendent laws that have predictable consequences like physical laws do
True, but physical laws come from repeated trials that can be tested any time in any situation and x always happens.

The spiritual metaphysical stuff...you weren't holding your mouth right that is why it didnt work, it takes time, ya gotta be patient.

To me, for me (maybe not for you, or you or you) if it is a law it should work every time for everybody in every situation.

In the end, both are arguing from faith rather than evidence, ..

God is not about the 'how' of it, but the 'why'.

For what it's worth.
I can provide you scientific position about all that I believe.
Even for 'why', God is insufficient.
May be 10 cents/pence.

Ah.

The Yin and Yang lines combine into eight trigrams, of three lines each, with those names attached. The eight trigrams are arranged in two different ways, symbolizing the interweaving of Spirit and Nature (imo). The eight trigrams are arranged into 64 hexagrams of six lines each, which represent the whole of existence.

Very ancient origin, with later additions by Confucius.

Something Aup has not already studied, for once:)

Too late for me. I would not start on a new thing now. ;)
If you decide to, I recommend a proper paper copy of the I Ching. I recommend the Richard Wilhelm translation (into German, then other languages) with a forward by Carl Jung.

Not according to my metaphysics.
This is where wish I live...in a world where each's evidence is enough for them without the need to convince others they are right.

Or that others beliefs are wrong.

As long as there is no harm to the other...the problem lies when ones belief is "if I dont get them into my belief, understanding, religIon, denomination, cult....they are going to hell and burn in fire...therefore I must proselytize...gad run into that in a grocery store the other day...saw this gentlemen cornering three different people over the course of time shopping.

Bingo! Thanks. They just don't get it
Perfect! While we have a plethora (dozens or even hundreds depending how you count) of physical, material, chemical, biological, mathematical rules and laws that have predictable consequences and outcomes, can you provide me a few of these three spiritual, metsohysical, transcendent laws that are repeatable, have had peer reviewed double blind studies and objectively proven as available to all regardless of belief?

I mean with thousands of denominations of dozens of belief systems that have been studied for centuries longer than the time that the majority of the scientific laws were discovered...

How about Buddha, Dharma, Sangha?

Roll them into one: zazen.

Read the Sermon on the Mount @wil

19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

From the I Ching ‘Great Treatise: chapter five’

That which lets now the dark, now the light appear is tao.

As continuer it is good. As completer it is the essence.

The kind man discovers it and calls it kind. The wise man discovers it and calls it wise. The people use it day by day and are not aware of it, for the way of the superior man is rare.

It manifests itself as kindness but conceals its workings. It gives life to all things, but it does not share the anxieties of the holy sage. It’s glorious power, its great field of action, are of all things the most sublime.

It possesses everything in complete abundance: this is its great field of action. It renews everything daily: this is its glorious power.

As the begetter of all begetting, it is called change.

As that which completes the primal images, it is called the Creative (yang); as that which imitates them, it is called the Receptive (yin).

It serves for exploring the laws of number, and thus for knowing the future it is called revelation. In that is serves to infuse and organic coherence into the changes, it is called the work.

That which cannot be fathomed in terms of the light and dark is called spirit.

Both of you would not accept those as answers to the question i asked.

The question i asked was fairly direct and in response to a statement and a "bingo".

But that is the nature of belief vs imperical science and the data it elicits isnt it?

(Note, as to Thomas's answer, I also have beliefs and explorations and understsndings that are unprovable yet comfortable and currently acceptable to me....but none of them reach the level of repeatable laws.)

Because spirit is not trapped by nature: time and space, it cannot be pinned down by purely material scientific measurement techniques. Doesn't mean it's not there, in the quietness of the heart, and it doesn't require explaining to any person demanding that 'God' perform and dance to satisfy their idle curiosity, imo

“To what can I compare this generation? They are like children sitting in the marketplaces and calling out to others:

“‘We played the pipe for you,
and you did not dance;
we sang a dirge,
and you did not mourn.’

Matthew 11:16-17

none of them reach the level of repeatable laws.
Again, the sermon on the mount ...

Again, the sermon on the mount ...
Please expound... i love the Sermon on the Mount, I wish more folks I knew that claimed Christianity would use it and want to post it in schools and court house walls vs the 10 commandments!

But which lines do you consider are metaphysical transcendent laws that would pass a peer reviewed double blind study, in all situations by all participants?

Welcome back to discussion brother.

If you don't get it, you still wouldn't get it later, imo

I never said they would

Welcome back to discussion brother.
Thank you @wil :)
