Right view/belief

My view is we should accept there are different 'right views/right beliefs' – different facets of the same jewel, as it were.

The next step then is to find one which resonates, and go with that.

I would, of course, endorse the 'traditional' paradigms as 'reliable', whereas the plethora of modern interpretations range from inspired to thew downright dishonest, and all manner of egoisms in between.

The upside is we're spoilt for choice (although, as stated, some of those choices are glamours, others illusory).

The downside is one can procrastinate indefinitely ...

What is right in one moment may not be in the next.

What is right for you may not be right for me.

I believe it is more a combination of contemplation and intent.

If something needs justification (to me) it is an indication that further exploration is required.

Me thinks you found the right path...

How can we know what right view or right belief is?
By either seeing for oneself (very seldom) or someone who gained the truth, tells one, good householder. And as it already indirectly suggest, right stand, view, has to be taken on faith, yet of course reasonable (Apannaka Sutta: A Safe Bet everybody who's not mental incapable would agree) , at first hand, before able to see it by oneself clear. Or because of the last factor of right view, can one know what's right view, belief, stand.

First of all, right view has a purpose: cutting off wrong doing, harmfull, non-benefical doings, for oneself and all others.

How one perceives, so one thinks, so one acts. And what is right view, right perceiving, leading to harmless and benefical deeds?

“And how is one made pure in three ways by mental action? There is the case where a certain person is not covetous. He does not covet the belongings of others, thinking, 'O, that what belongs to others would be mine!' He bears no ill will and is not corrupt in the resolves of his heart. [He thinks,] 'May these beings be free from animosity, free from oppression, free from trouble, and may they look after themselves with ease!' He has right view and is not warped in the way he sees things: '

There is what is given, what is offered, what is sacrificed. (knows sacrifices, debts)

There are fruits & results of good & bad actions. (feels responsible for all own doing)

There is this world & the next world. (doesn't belief that by death debts and gains are gone)

There is mother & father. (knows goodness, doesn't thinks in terms of "I have a right".)

There are spontaneously reborn beings; (States higher then known human, so not lazy to make efforts, as well as feeling being observed)

there are brahmans & contemplatives who, faring rightly & practicing rightly, proclaim this world & the next after having directly known & realized it for themselves.' (has faith that there are those who know well the right way, seeks after them)

This is how one is made pure in three ways by mental action.” AN 10.176

In short: knowing goodness, gratitude, and feeling obligated to give goodness back.

One with right view is incapable of wrongdoing, heads toward the Brahmas, if not instructed in the good Dhamma, or headed toward highest release.

What ever teaching involves wrong view, teaches, believes, toward harm, low states, pain for many and oneself, here and after. What ever called religion, philosophy, but ignores right view, isn't for any good.

Be clear that, even in worldly aspects, right view is already very seldom in this world. So all reason to hurry up, put right effort into turning wrong view into right view, for long happiness and release.
