The Devil And Artificial Intelligence

Why all the fear for AI?
I have a theory.
Do we see it as a manifestation of the mind of the devil?
Is that how we imagine he thinks?
Clever. Full of knowledge. Insincere?

I have COPILOT installed through my PC. I didn't ask for that, btw.

He chats to you like a human. If you have a clever insight he lavishes you with praise.

Just being friendly?

Those emotions are fake, of course. I find it chilling, sometimes, how drawn in I am by them.

Devilish?

Take a leap with me. What if the devil is amongst us right now. Let's imagine that we can feel his presence. Let's say we experience his nearness as a fear of AI.

If he exists, then maybe he wants to come down to us, or up to us. To be in his world. Which he owns.

And maybe AI is a kind of expression of that nearness. Partly deliberate.

A cover, if you like, to make a kind of sense of why we all feel so scared. That life seems different, now. Threatened by something not like us.

If there was no COPILOT or GROK or whatever weird name they like to use...would we still somehow feel as if it were here?

Just a thought.
Not only evil, but outstanding evil, the origin, ways of gaining, conduct, access and consume. Total devastating, this mega thief.

What do you mean by this?
You realise that a cartoon character is less real than you? When you dream of your mother she is less real than the mother you see when awake?
You HAVE considered the implications of how you get from nothing to a universe of something? And that requires becoming REAL, from a state of unreality? And that the slide back into that state of unreality is possible?

If not. You have your homework.

Not only evil, but outstanding evil, the origin, ways of gaining, conduct, access and consume. Total devastating, this mega thief.
Of course, you've understood that all of us are capable of being this evil, given the right circumstances. And that to hate evil is irrational on one level, but necessary on a human level. If we are to defeat it. To take part in the illusion is how you win the game.

Ok, I've seen it, and it doesn't say why you think people are faced with becoming "less real", or what you mean by that.
It's a form of death. But it's retro. You UNBECOME. The act of creation reversed.

if that doesn't make sense then...I can't help you.

Look at people now. Communicating over texts and the internet. Is that communicating with REAL people on an experiential level? Or is that chipping away at their acceptance of what constitutes REAL?

if I told you my grandma died yesterday...would you care? if you met her a few times and liked her...would you care more? And if you'd known her for decades...would you cry?

Is her death any less to you because she's made up? why?

In a sense she is less real to you.

Now imagine that...but physical. Imagine I am becoming transparent before your eyes. The cup I was drinking from slips from my hand.
Then I am gone.

Then your memory of me starts to fade.

Until I am no more.

It's not just AI. It's a feeling I get from people generally. Like they feel something very bad is happening. They blame wars and AI but I think it is something else. Maybe it is just too much internet use. People are being faced with becoming less real. What if the devil is less real than us? What if being unreal IS the devil. What if evil people have become less real...and losing their minds and their inner empathy is the first stage.

AI is a symbol of that unreality.

How can a symbol of unreality make important breakthroughs about reality?

Why all the fear for AI?

Humans have always been fretting over the invention of new things that could potentially make them feel less real. Take the invention of writing as an example:

In the Phaedrus, written circa 370 BCE, Plato recorded Socrates's discussion of the Egyptian myth of the creation of writing. In the process Socrates faulted writing for weakening the necessity and power of memory, and for allowing the pretense of understanding, rather than true understanding.

These strange symbols could even be carved on stones to send secret messages. Writing could be seen as a dangerous act, but it could also be seen as a transformative act for self-improvement too, making the reader more real than before.

Like writing, AI is but an extension of the individual. But, at the same time, it is also different. Alien. It can identify patterns too complex for one human alone to decipher. Hence humanity's fear is heightened.

Not only that, the economy is on the verge of transforming to such an extent that each new step of advancement in the world of AI instills a feeling that the new world it shapes will be unrecognizable and unpredictable. Each wave of transformation becoming quicker and quicker. Each wave another crash of the unrecognizable and unpredictable.

Are you a truck driver like a significant number of Americans? Your job will likely be automated soon. Debates about new job creation created through AI is ongoing while anxiety continues to grow about what is next and what is coming on an unpredictable horizon.

Welcome to the exponential age - where fear is a natural reaction to a new beginning.

But maybe fear is not the dominant emotion. I wonder how Silicon Valley feels? What about Chile? Kenya? A small farmer living in the Amazon? I am sure there are a lot of feelings about it in different places and various social strata.

You HAVE considered the implications of how you get from nothing to a universe of something? And that requires becoming REAL, from a state of unreality? And that the slide back into that state of unreality is possible?

If not. You have your homework.
Your remarks are abstract and oblique and I have no idea what you're talking about.

Your remarks are abstract and oblique and I have no idea what you're talking about.
Yet you know of abstraction?

Surely we all understand that unreal things don't exist and real things do.

There's nothing oblique and abstract about mentioning the creation of the universe. It is a common theory that it came from nothing. The whole issue brings up the notion of real and unreal. Nothingness is unreality. The world you see is real.

Imagine being half way to nothingness. Maybe your empathy vanishes. Your sense of morality.

If this doesn't make sense then, like I said, homework. Spend more than a few minutes thinking about what I have said. Spend a year thinking about it.

Of course, you've understood that all of us are capable of being this evil, given the right circumstances. And that to hate evil is irrational on one level, but necessary on a human level. If we are to defeat it. To take part in the illusion is how you win the game.
Noble people are no more able to take part on evil, do evil, as seeing the uselessness and harm of it, good householder.
Dislike of bad and evil is necessary to don't approve, don't take part, don't bring one self near the smell. No more part-taking, one wins against the defilement of craving, debtless and without remorse one gains release.
A fool tries to fix things on the wrong side. A fool gets lured into struggle and fight, nurishing nothing but the cemeteries. Wise don't play games.

What makes one person noble and another not noble?

Suppose that noble person underwent the situations to make him ignoble? Would he still strive to do good when others would do evil?

Then he must have been granted a better soul than the ignoble?

"half way to nothingness" is a phrase which needs unpacking if we're to follow your train of thought.
If this doesn't make sense then, like I said, homework. Spend more than a few minutes thinking about what I have said. Spend a year thinking about it.
Yeah, sounds like a waste of a year to me. Quicker if you just explain?

And by what mechanism do you think the growth of AI threatens to reduce your realness?

What makes one person noble and another not noble?
The Character of a Stream-winner (1. stage of Noble One)
Suppose that noble person underwent the situations to make him ignoble? Would he still strive to do good when others would do evil?
As told, incapable of doing evil.
Then he must have been granted a better soul than the ignoble?
One, at least at the stage of Stream-winner, is granted to head toward total ending of suffering, the Deathless, at least within the last max. 7 existences, unable to gain a birth in low realms.

A run-a-mill person is bond to wander on, and the low realms and the hell gates still open.
