If God came into being a finite period of time ago then we could categorize him as a scientist...looking for knowledge. Experimenting.

If God always existed and knows everything...then he must be an artist...playing with the knowledge. Creating for fun.

No?

Do you regard this "God" you don't believe in, yet still worthy of threads on internet forums, as an individual male entity subject to left brain/right brain tendencies?

I see God is the artist, but his paintings are not for fun, the paintings have a purpose.

I actually rather like the "playing with the knowledge" idea. :) I'm not sure I'd tie it specifically to omniscience, since I don't necessarily think a God has to know everything, eternal or otherwise.

But creation as play? Yeah, that vibes.

Not "fun" in the sense of creation being trivial or meaningless, but play in the sense of music or dance or story. There's structure and pattern, but also rhythm, movement, improvisation, relationship and creativity. The point of a dance isn't necessarily to arrive somewhere. The dancing itself can be the entire point.

Coming from a polytheistic perspective, I take that a step further. Maybe creation isn't one artist producing a finished work. Maybe it's many participants playing, responding, improvising and creating together through relationship.

Less like God conducting an experiment, perhaps, and more like the Gods making music. :)

I sense hostility. Quote me saying God does not exist.

Perhaps you are a firm Christian etc. And any probing into the nature of God is blasphemous.
Maybe I've tested your faith with one of my threads.
Maybe that's why you think I do not believe in God AND why you are hostile.

Because deep down you know there is no evidence for God. So deep down in a place you no longer venture to. Because it frightens you to go there. I'm not frightened to go anywhere.

All versions of God, presently, are wrong. Unless God is a tyrant. Which is still possible.

As to if he has a mind like us is not a prerequisite to understanding this thread's core idea. As you would know if you were capable of thinking before feeling.

You must ascribe to the notion that God is always creating new souls, then? That need guidance and nurturing?

I would have to wonder why he would do that. Considering it would just be unnecessary repetition. Do we need an infinite number of Ted Dansons? Presumably Ted Danson will rise up to be the God version of Ted Danson. After that...more Ted Dansons?

if you were an artist would you paint the same picture over and over?

Unless you are just stating God is both a scientist and an artist at the same time.

More like ... sigh … same ‘ole …

The title sets the shallow tone of "God" as a person with preferences for either art or science. Ok, it's just a silly thread, lol

In traditional Christianities, at least, this could not be further from the truth.

LOL, deep down is where the evidence is. Your 'deep down' might be frightening to you, do not assume that of everyone ...

On the evidence so far, your versions certainly are.

Bearing in then your first post rests on a logical error, what does that say about your power of thought?

Is that your experience?

That suggests to me you haven't gone deep enough. Maybe it's you who recoiled in fright.

Maybe? Possibly?
I am shaken to the very core of my being by the thread question. I have stared into the abyss and the abyss has stared back. I am terrified, forever changed. I think I'll never leave the house again, lol

How could the universe and life come into existence without God? What was happening 20, 50 or a 100 billion years ago?

Our microscopic Earth is travelling at around 67,000 mph, our solar system is strolling along at 460,000 mph, and our galaxy is breaking the sound barrier at 1.3 million mph.

Beyond a doubt, first life had to start somehow. If you have real evidence for abiogenesis through a natural process; there is still a $10 million prize waiting to be claimed. Without abiogenesis, there is no evolution.

I never understand a Christian objection to abiogenesis. It is simply the mechanism by which God made man out of the dust of the earth, imo. The problem with evolution exists only for Biblical literalists and young earth creationists.

The words of scripture are the dry shell of the nut, that preserves the living truth within. Noah's ark is a parable, as with global warming, imo
