A question to all Christians, anyone can answer though.

Please don't take it amiss E99 if this sounds unpalatable, but I am getting clear warning signals from your posts. I am not disputing what you have to say about demons. What I am warning you against is being obsessed with them. Some people are drawn into abusive relationships for the thrill and the danger. I suspect that this is what you described in your initial post. I have met other Christians whose faith is based more on their fear of the devil than on their love of God. This is not good.

Take the advice of St Paul and fill your mind with thoughts of good, beautiful, noble, inspiring things. Turn your back on the dark side. Just don't go there.

wow your blowing me away.. this is great stuff.

Php 4:8 whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy--meditate on these things.

You are entitled to your opinion, but you are misrepresenting me. My post was not to do with any abusive relationship, or a fear of the demons, but one where we have to be practical. The scriptures caution us.......beware of having any involvement with any form of demonism and spiritism. So we warn others. For the reason that God has afforded us this protection gives me even more reason to have wholehearted love for Jehovah God. Please look for the positive in what seems to be negative.

Your quote:

"Take the advice of St Paul and fill your mind with thoughts of good, beautiful, noble, inspiring things. Turn your back on the dark side. Just don't go there".

Thankyou ! Sorry....Don't take offence, but to live in a self imposed utopia....you must be living under some form of denial of the realities of a wicked world. It is to take a balanced view of the realities of life that the scriptures are putting across to us. It mentions the good and the bad. If we look at only the good then we will lose sight of all of the warnings that God gave us and the terrible things that go on. The needy will suffer even more. Paul also warned us about the bad things that crop up.
Balance your outlook and you will be able to see everything in its true light.
I think that you are trying to define my character as demon obssessive based solely on my first post. LOL...The answer was merely a reply to some one that had experienced a possible demonic influence on a subject regarding satanism. What kind of answer do you want ?... "Steve, if you're feeling sick take some alka seltzer"....Racing heart ? "It could be you have atrial fibrillation..... See your doctor straight away". Light headed ?..."Its obvious that you've been looking at the screen for longer than two hours". No, the discussion is about Christianity, the view from the bible, and its tenets, not a medical discussion or to use every excuse to make out that the world is wrapped in cotton wool. The answer that I gave was appropriate for the subject matter....

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8... 1 For everything there is an appointed time, even a time for every affair under the heavens: 2 a time for birth and a time to die; a time to plant and a time to uproot what was planted; 3 a time to kill and a time to heal; a time to break down and a time to build; 4 a time to WEEP and a time to LAUGH; a time to WAIL and a time to skip about; 5 a time to throw stones away and a time to bring stones together; a time to EMBRACE and a time to KEEP AWAY FROM EMBRACING; 6 a time to seek and a time to give up as lost; a time to keep and a time to throw away; 7 a time to rip apart and a time to sew together; a time to keep quiet and a time to speak; 8 a time to love and a time to hate; a time for war and a time for peace.

.....A time and place to discuss relevant points.
I've experienced the spirits and I'm being realistic...they exist and, the spirit proved to be evil because it threatened my step daughter. She was terrified. I wasn't going to bury my head in the sand or was going to look at everything through rosy coloured glasses where she was petrified. Where would that have left her ? helpless ? alone ? Be thankful that I didn't pretend that there was nothing there.....

1 John 5:19 : We know we originate with God, but the whole world is lying in the [power of the] wicked one.

James 4:7 Subject yourselves, therefore, to God; but oppose the Devil, and he will flee from you.

This event was a minute moment in time, 8 years ago, previous to that I had no contact with spirits, or neither was I really bothered about them and since, I only mention them if the subject comes up.... Its not an obssession.
Look at the scriptures...Was Jesus and Paul being obsessive ?.........
Paul...Acts 16:18.This she kept doing for many days. Finally Paul got tired of it and turned and said to the spirit: "I order you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her." And it came out that very hour.

Jesus....Mark 1:39 And he did go, preaching in their synagogues throughout the whole of Galilee and expelling the demons.

Jesus and his followers....Mark 3:14,15 And he formed [a group of] twelve, whom he also named "apostles," that they might continue with him and that he might send them out to preach 15 And to have authority to expel the demons.

Jesus.....Matthew 6:13. And do not bring us into temptation, but deliver us from the wicked one.’

Jesus.....Luke 8: 27-33 Legion ...(you know the rest !)

Jesus.....Mark 9:25. Jesus, now noticing that a crowd was running together upon [them], rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it: "You speechless and deaf spirit, I order you, get out of him and enter into him no more.

Paul....2 Thessalonians 2: 9 But the lawless one’s presence is according to the operation of Satan with every powerful work and lying signs and portents.

Jesus....John 8:44 You are from your father the Devil, and you wish to do the desires of your father. That one was a manslayer when he began.

Paul.... Ephesians 6:11. Put on the complete suit of armor from God that you may be able to stand firm against the machinations of the Devil.

Jesus....Matthew 8:16. But after it became evening, people brought him many demon-possessed persons; and he expelled the spirits with a word, and he cured all who were faring badly.

Are they obssessed or merely being realistic ? The whole of the scriptures is literally soaked in occurences regarding the demons. This is because its theme is about how Satan claimed a right to rule as well as Jehovah. There are many more scriptures where the apostles and followers of Jesus talk of Satan and the demons.....Demonism was rife in the first century. It was a problem that had to be tackled not covered over with icing sugar. So it is today.

There are ostriches, and there are doves.

Apologies e99, I did in fact get two posts mixed up and addressed my reply to you by mistake. But I take your point, we certainly should not try to live in fairy land. My point was a different one: Devils can be a lot more exciting (for some) than God. There are those who find it more entertaining to spend their lives in fear and trembling over evil than to live in peace with God. In my experience, "the world" or "reality" is how you see it. If you see it all as a thin veil that the Kingdom is almost breaking through at every moment then it is a beautiful if imperfect place.

That's pretty close to what i think too, but I think people find the Devil so exciting is because they might not agree with the christian religion, or want to get back at (for whatever reason) the church, and they feel that giving the devil more power, that it will take away power from God.

Steve,

My job is to insure this does not become a "blood thread", nor is it to be hijacked by any particular interest group. In accordance with the faculty at CR, we have been more hands off as of late. However, that is over. No one intererst group will preside over others. This is a discussion forum, not a pulpit.

Second of all, I don't like to be preached to nor implied in condemnation...do you? We will not allow it.

That is all.

If you are implying that I am condemning you, first of all I am offended  and secondly, I did nothing of the sort. I just want answers not arguments, infact thats why i created this thread in the first place, do i not have that right? And im glad to see this isn't a pulpit, as is why the title of this thread is " A question to all Christians, anyone can answer though." And finally please don't preach your job at me:mad: , as long as you are doing your job I will have no complaints.

However, if I have interpreted your message incorrectly than I am completly and utterly sorry:eek: , and would ask for you to forgive me, and ask you to help me interpret it correctly.:)

The power of will over the unsuspecting or unguarded, can be unsettling for both, even dangerous.

In 1984 I was sitting in a cafe on the 55th floor of the World Trade Center (Tower 2), waiting for my language class to start. There was a man sitting on a table in an unremodeled area of the tower, meditating. Next to him was a glass of water. After watching him for awhile, I got it in my head to try something. So I started thinking "Thirsty, so very thirsty". I pictured the painted desert of Arizona, a dry well, I recalled how hot it was in the south pacific desert islands, and the taste of salt water on cracked lips.

I was about to quit when I gave it one last mental "shout" "THIRSTY, NOW".

I never saw a man move so fast. He broke from his meditation, grabbed his glass (spilling most of it), and practically slammed it to his face. Then, as fast as he reacted, he stopped, stunned, water dripping from his chin onto his shirt, looking around in confusion, totally disoriented...

Powerful lesson to learn.
