Have you seen the little piggies crawling in the d
Just curious had a look around cannot seem to find a suitable answer... Just thought I'd throw a question at you see if anyone has an interesting answers or whatnot.... How did it start? How/why would people say jesus! when they did something wrong or something happened and god damn it... Where the hell did all this like orginate? How did it get so popular.... Like people that don't even believe jesus is real will say jesus when something goes wrong... Why? lol..

They blaspheme God's name because they hate Him. No one says "Allah Damn" or "Hitler Damn" or "Kreshna damn," but they abuse Jesus' name this way. Not even hated men like Hiter is so dispised inasumuch as to use a "hitler damn." But, the one who says, "I and I only am the way," man hate Him. The good news however, is of course, Jesus warned that everyone will give an account for every idol word that comes out of their mouths. One day, the world will KNOW that Jesus is Lord of lords and King of kings. I prayer that the ubelievers here would consider his words and allow them to change you.

But if you come from somewhere, where there was no biblical reference and such... How could it spread there? And some people when they shout jesus christ, I ask why they did that... Like my brother... He has not religiously driven and hasn't got anything agaisnt religion either... But when I ask why he said that he would reply, no idea.... And that seems quite common, that no one has really got something agaisnt jesus... I dunno!!$£$ it's odd.

They get it from demons that speak in their ears. The demons say, "blasphme God this way: say 'G damn' and call his name in vain." Then they laugh at the people and wait for them to die and go to Hell.

Does that sound plausable to you?

Not really... But I imagined that would be one of the answers. Which I guess in certain ways and theories can be an answer... Just curious you know seeing how the answers vary and then try and take something from that.

If demons tell a man to say certain things, you would think though god being this amazing being would be big enough to laugh it off.. If so great why so shallow and hurt by such small petty things? Then the demons would realise it didn't upset him and put an end to that game

I think it all started with religous zealots...G-d D**n you is no different from someone saying you are going to Hell. After all, in theory there is only one that can send you to hell...and it surely isn't one of us. So the statement is truly a request.

In regards to Jesus Christ, I think it started as a prayer, and then graduated to the concept of blaming someone for something we refuse to take personal responsibility for.

There is also the inherent shock value...same reason we use any curse word to raise the ire of those standing around. Add to this it is the law...what you resist persists...thou shall not use the lord's name in vain...breaking the law is relatively common...then...and now.

Of course I don't believe Silas's ever popular the whole world hates G-d/Jesus mantra...and while I haven't traveled the world I'll bet Hindu's, Muslim's...Zorastrian's...all have their religious epithets as well.

ps...I used to get in trouble for saying geez or gee whiz...because to my mom, who said "pardon my French" when she said darn it, all of those were just 'cheese and crackers' an alternate wording for using the lord's name in vain and hence deserved some corporal punishment...a whack upside the head if you were handy...if you said it obnoxiously it might mean the old wooden spoon or fetching your own switch....and then the ever popular way to insure one doesn't have a dirty mouth...washing it out with soap!

That's a good one too Wil, thanks... So also your saying that christians... or people that live close or come from christan backgrounds and such are more likley to use this and other religions would have their own blasphemy.... like "OWWW tap dancing buddha!! I hit my thumb!"

Yeah, shock value mostly. That's why I use them. That and my pet demons who I pay to stoke the fires of hell in my heart and mouth.

Oh, just kidding. Lighten up.

Look, saying "Krishna!" or "Siddhartha!" or even "Tathagata!" just does not have the same effect in this culture. Maybe if I lived in India it would be different.

Pardon me, I need to walk my demon.

whistling sounds
"Come on, Beelzabub."

Shock value?

In a world where there is much much more colourful and fun language to cuss with... saying jesus christ doesn't make the average person even blink nor blush.... With the increase of such language in movies schools youth whatever.... Can it really be for shock value?

I didnt say that, the Bible did. I'm only reiterated.

I used to curse a blue streak...I got over it...

'Allah' is the transliteration of the Arabic word for God.

Oh . . . I get it now.

Something bad or incredible happens and someone prays, "Oh Jesus, Oh God, . . . Please help me!!!!"

Several decades, generations, conversations or rantings later, during which the "catch phrase" catches on and spreads . . . It becomes . . .

"Jesus!!!!!"

"Jesus Christ!!!!!"

"Oh my God!!!!"

"God Almighty . . . "

"Oooo la la!!!!"

"God damn it!!!!"

"Damn it"

"Mother of God . . . . "

"Jeez!!!"

"Sheeeesssh"

. . . when something bad or incredible happens.
