I hope it is okay if I put the link for my blog here? I only created it yesterday and am seriously struggling with lack of technical knowledge. I am really pushing to get my website finished as time back home is running out fast, hence not so much posting for a few days.

If anyone would look at my blog and comment on look, function (not that I could change it ) or content, I would be very grateful for your views. Please don't be polite, I need to get this right.

Thanks and salaam

Sal...As we used to say in Chicagah..."it's a weiner, and I want everything on mine !"

I wouldn't change anything right now, especially your bio. Let's just say that if I had anything to advertise in the UK, I'd want it to be on your site.

Lots of lonely people out there sweet thing...go for it ! You are a very good writer, by the way. Maybe with what you'll earn on the site you'll be able to hire a few pixies for your dirty work.

flow....:p

Thank you so much Flow. I have tried to write an article for weeks and got nowhere fast. Yesterday I thought just be yourself and pretend you are talking to a friend - I hope that comes across?

Now I just have to get people to read my ramblings and post comments, so head in the SEO books tonight.

So pleased you like it. :)

Hi Sally,

Well I really like its directness and honesty, though it might scare away the faint hearted at the start!! It's a good beginning but as you know better than me it has a long way to go!! I have bookmarked it and will watch its development with interest and tell you the truth about what I think.

Good luck :)

Do you think I would be better to keep that post for later and do a light hearted one to start with?

Well it can only develop at the speed of my learning, which is vverrry slllooooww when it comes to technical stuff, so if anyone has any tips or hints they would be VERY welcome, as I am in uncharted water here.

Thanks for looking Tao.

Hi MW...No I believe that in writing and in life you make your way the best by showing people what you're about up front...of course unless you're a politician ( no wonder the world's so screwed up...these people are our leaders). But then that also depends upon what you believe your "way" is. Is it to make money, to satisfy a longing, to help others, to provide a needed service which is otherwise missing, all of the above ? These are the issues that every business person wrestles with. It is very hard to focus down on the essential elements sometimes, and your venture then goes off on tangents..

No, people are hungry for smart and experienced people to provide them with honest advice. On television you must provide that "image" to be successful. In writing you must project substantive honesty at all cost. I think if you drew people in with sweeetnes and light and then hit them with your truths later that they'd more likely be turned off. The true seekers will recognise the honesty of your words from the get go and stay around.

My two cents.

flow....;)

awesome blog sally. I am impressed. (i know it doesnt take much but I still AM impressed). Now I wish I was a single person in the Uk with you looking out for me. very cool. love Grey

yeah, had a look, muslimwoman, its fine, although.. I dont like the way the text changes from times new roman to arial/verdana, in the middle.. apart from that, looks good, love the frog...

Thnks guys, I need all the input I can get - like add images, change the frog, make it pink with green stripes.

I will try to sort the text out today Francis, just me learning and making boo-boo's.

Salaam

See now thats the bit I liked, I don't know whether it's the fact that I can't see the smaller writing through needing glasses or the fact that it breaks the blog up because I don't like reading lots of text in the same writing

I think the blog itself is brilliant, very truthful and you know how to get a message across without it sounding like you are having a go at people or just going "Awww" in a sarcastic tone

Can't wait until you get the rest of it done :)

Hey Sparrkie

Nice to 'meet' you and thanks for the input. I have just retyped it all so it is in the same font but yes it is very small. I have no idea how to change it, will do some studying tonight and see if I can work it out.

Salaam

A cat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a brilliant blog!

PS oh alright I'll look at the other stuff too................

Be afraid. Be very afraid…:p

Look
I like the colour scheme a lot – very tasteful and easy on the eye.:)

Function
Couldn’t find any malfunctions and I suppose it’s early days for the links to things that are empty at the mo? What about the links to the German techies – is that normal? I don’t mean is being German normal, I mean….of never mind.:)

Content
Content-wise it’s like reading across from CR; so it’s self evidently your “real” personality (not that I’d expect anything else!). Enjoyable to read – a nice conversational style.:)

I can’t make a comparison with other blogs cos I don’t indulge in them. And glad the frog went. As much as I love cats, might a more appropriate image for the blog be one of (say) a cat and a dog cautiously checking each other out (nose to nose)? Or something? Oh heck, I don’t know.

Was that brutal enough Sally?;)

I am afraid of nothing ........ except annoying the big guy upstairs, running out of brownies, snakes, getting old, finding out my husband has a second wife, crossing the road, taxi rides in Egypt, sharks, ....... I'll finish the list later, it would take too long :p

Is it too monotone? Red and Grey, everything is red and grey.

I can't get rid of them, I have searched high and low for a way but the file everyone tells me to look in doesn't have the links to remove. Will get to that soon I hope (or find some nice helpful techi peson who will offer help).

Am I being too wordy? I tend to do that but it is hard to judge your own writing.

Well I did find a nice puppy & kitten together but thought it might be to 'girly'? What do people think - cat or puppy & kitten?

Was that brutal enough Sally?;)

Yes thank you. One of my favourite programmes is Dragon's Den (where people try to get finance for their new business idea) and so often you hear them say 'well everybody loves my .......' and the dragons reply 'you mean friends and family love it!'. So I need honest input, not just friendly encouragment. So thank you.

Is it too monotone?

Or perhaps duotone?;). Well it's a personal thing at the end of the day. It's not day glo jump off the screen but then I wouldn't want to sit for too long in front of such a thing reading.

I think it's fine. And with the "read more" option you can scan through headings and snippets then dig into the ones that interest.

Yeah, I've seen the trailer - where the rich woman is laughing as she crushes the tiny poor person under her shoe. I find it a most apt image of the modern world.
